You can go on this shore excursion in a morning or an afternoon. Natural wonders are the order of the day, and you’ll start by driving to the secluded village of Serra De Agua, nestled within a Fairy Liquid-green ravine. You’ll stop briefly at a traditional bar to sample the local drink, poncha, which is made from sugar cane, rum and honey. From here, you’ll head to São Vicente’s Caves and Volcanism Centre. These famous caves are made up of a series of lava tubes that were formed during a volcanic eruption over 400,000 years ago. Grab the camera – the volcanic stalactites are crying out to be photographed. The experience finishes with a 3D film experience which allows you to relive Madeira’s formation nearly five million years ago.
