If you prefer to sightsee without the organised tours, this is the one for you. You’ll be dropped off at the famous Gateway of India monument. Often referred to as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai, this 20th-century arch was built to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary in 1911. Next, you’ll be driven to Colaba Causeway. This place is the be-all and end-all in markets. Its streets are packed with stalls selling everything from clothes and bags to jewellery and incense – all for bargain-bin prices. It’s a great chance to put your bartering skills to the test. If you work up an appetite while you’re haggling, you can easily fuel up at one of the street food stalls. After a couple of hours of exploring, you can meet at the pick-up point for your journey back to the port.
You can walk as much or as little as you like on this tour, so we’d recommend it for those with walking difficulties.
- SUITABILITY Little physical activity.
