Ancient castles, coastal villages and beautiful desert landscapes are packed together in Eastern Salalah ̶ and you’ll see them all on this tour. Starting at the port, you’ll get a good introduction to Omani culture with a stop at a souk. You’ll have the chance to buy some locally produced frankincense here before a 45-minute drive through town to Taqah ̶ a small fishing village just outside Salalah. Apart from the dried sardines, the centrepiece here’s the hard-to-miss castle, which was built over a century ago. You’ll get a good look around this old house on a hill before heading off to Sumahram, a UNESCO-protected ancient town where frankincense was traded in the 2nd century. Explore the ruins next to the Wadi Darbat River before your drive back to port through Salalah.
