History buffs will be in their element on this tour, as you peer beneath the surface of the Vietnam War – literally. You’ll head for the Cu Chi Tunnels – a maze-like underground network, controlled by the Viet Cong in the Sixties. Once you arrive at the tunnels, you’ll be taken on a tour – showing off the tools and weapons used by the guerrillas, as well as the tiny tunnels themselves. You’ll even get the chance to head into the tunnels and see how the Viet Cong lived during the war. The underground system includes everything from living areas and kitchens to armouries and hospitals. After, you can refuel with lunch in a riverfront restaurant, before going for a sightseeing drive around Ho Chi Minh City – ticking off the Notre Dame Cathedral, Reunification Palace and the Central Post Office.
The driving time is approximately 3 hours to Cu Chi Tunnels and back. This tour is graded as active as lots of walking is involved, you don't have to go inside the tunnels but if you do, expect them to be small and dark.
