If you’re craving some beach time, this trip is for you. After a 40-minute drive through the Belem area of Lisbon, you’ll pull up by the buttercream-coloured sand in Cascais. En route, look out for the Jeronimos Monastery, the seafront Discoveries Monument and the Medieval Belem Tower. There’ll be a quick stop to snap pictures of the latter, before making tracks towards the beach. On arrival in Cascais, you can lay out a towel and relax, or explore the cobbled streets of this postcard-pretty fishing village. There’s a string of restaurants around the main square, if you fancy sampling some net-fresh seafood. At the end of your free time, the bus will take you back to the ship.
