The sea cave at the fishing village of Benagil is one of the Algarve’s most photographed sites. That doesn’t mean it’s easy to get to, though. This trip is your ticket inside this natural phenomenon. As you can only access the cave by sea, you’ll take a boat from Portimão Marina and sail along the cliff-lined coastline. Look out for the pocket-sized beaches that are tucked into scalloped coves along the way. The boat will edge into the cave so you can take pictures of the sunlight shining through the hole in the rocky roof, and the gin-clear water lapping the sand of the concealed beach. You’ll then head back to shore and take a bus back to the port.
