Literature lovers will be in their element on this trip to Kronborg Castle. William Shakespeare made this Danish royal castle in Elsinore world famous in 1603 when he published the much-loved play about the tragic fate of Prince Hamlet. From June through to August, the story is brought to life in the castle. Characters from the play, like Hamlet, Ophelia and Polonius roam the chambers and the halls. You can talk to them, and watch some re-enactments of scenes from the tragedy as you wander around the castle. After, it’s time to explore Elsinore. Use the leaflet provided to take a self-guided tour around the town’s Medieval centre. You’ll have three hours to look around, taking in the Gothic houses, Neoclassical mansions and merchant houses that date back to the 1700s. There are plenty of coffee shops and restaurants if you fancy a break, before the bus picks you up to head back to the port.
This tour is not guided during your time at the castle. You will receive a ‘follow the trail’ flyer on your arrival.
