You’ll kick off this half-day tour of Porto Torres with a visit to Turris Libisonis – an ancient Roman town dating back to the 1st century BC. Public baths, shops and Roman roads are still really easy to spot among the remains – your guide will point out the must-sees. Next up’s the largest Romanesque church on the island – the Basilica of San Gavino. It’s named after a Sardinian saint and was once a cathedral. The church’s history stretches as far as the 11th century – including a legend surrounding the Martyrs of Turris, which your guide will uncover as you go. Afterwards, you’ll take a scenic drive along the coastal road, and spend some free time in Porto Torres.
