The ancient site of Olympia may be in ruins, but this tour gives you a chance to see it in its former glory. You’ll hop on a bus to Olympia, where the first ancient Olympic Games were held. It’s a pretty area to this day, set in a valley between the Aphios and Kladhios rivers. Upon arrival, each guest will be given a tablet, fitted with augmented reality software. This piece of kit can combine the real-time content of its camera with virtual elements. So, when you point the camera at various locations around the site, images will pop up of the ruins in their original form, as they once stood thousands of years ago. This means you’ll be able to visualise the monuments of Olympia, including the Temple of Zeus – one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World – and the Altis, where the athletes competed before the stadium was built. Once you’ve finished your tour, you’ll have some free time in the village to look around, do some shopping or grab something to eat, before returning to the ship.
