Iceland’s billed as one of the best places in the world for whale-watching. And Akureyri’s one of the island’s top spots. The waters around this city-in-a-fjord are filled with more than 20 different species of whales, dolphins and porpoises, including humpback, minke and fin whales. This excursion takes place on a RIB – a small, speedy boat, which can easily navigate the narrow waterways and get you closer to the marine life. You’re not just on the lookout for wildlife, though. You can also admire the striking scenery. You’ll pass strapping, snow-crowned mountains, as you sail through the Eyjafjordur Fjord.
The minimum age for this tour is 10 years old. The boat ride may be a little bumpy at times and the surfaces underfoot might be slippery.
- SUITABILITY Moderate physical activity.
