Tromso’s more than just a gateway to the Arctic. This pocket-sized city’s got architectural clout, too. You’ll start this tour by driving into the centre. Here, you’ll spy centuries-old wooden houses in among the colourful, waterfront packhouses. It’s even got one of the most important collections of Empire houses in Norway – it’s an architectural style inspired by ancient Greece and Rome. And you can snap photos of the bridge, which connects the island to the city’s distinctive Arctic Cathedral. After, you’ll make your way to everyone’s favourite stop – one of the world’s northernmost breweries. Along the way, you’ll also pass the world’s northernmost Protestant cathedral. Once you’re inside the brewery, you’ll get a tour and a tasting. You can even sip your beer next to a giant stuffed polar bear.
