Get to know the area’s ancient history on this tour. It kicks off with a water taxi ride to a restaurant called Posada El Delfin in Livingston. You’ll fuel up with a fresh fruit smoothie before sailing along the Dulce River to the village of Bella Vista Miramar, once known as El Nito. Here, you can check out the ancient Mayan ruins, which are still marked with visible hieroglyphics. Spot the village’s central plaza and games court among the ruins, before walking through the jungle to the Jaguar Caves. These natural soapstone caves earned their name by providing shelter for jaguars when they weren’t hunting in the jungle. These days, they’re home to a display of Mayan artwork that’s thought to be over 2,000 years old. You’ll hike back to the boat for the final part of the trip – a Guatemalan lunch back in Livingston.
