If you’re after a look at Thailand’s authentic side, this is the trip for you. You’ll make a beeline for the Ancient City – a park on the outskirts of Bangkok that’s dedicated to celebrating and preserving Thai architecture. The landscaped gardens are filled with iconic buildings, which have been reproduced to look as close to the original as possible. They range from huge steeple-topped pavilions to quaint wooden temples, with bridge-laced rivers weaving in between. Pick up a snack and a drink at the traditional market, and learn about the history of each structure on a guided tram ride around the site. When you’ve filled your camera reel with ample shots, you’ll head back to the coach for the journey back to port.
The journey time to the ancient city is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes each way.
