Today, explore the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, and learn about the man behind the fairy-tales. You’ll travel to Odense, the third-largest city in Denmark, where you’ll visit the little house Andersen lived in with his parents between the ages of two and 14. It was opened as a museum in 1930, and contains the very modest rooms where the writer grew up as the son of a poor cobbler. Afterwards you’ll visit the Hans Christian Andersen Museum in the old city district, and learn more about his life after he decided to become an author. You’ll be given free time to take in the exhibitions, which give an in-depth impression of Andersen as a person, as well as the world he lived in from 1805 to 1875.
