Built as protection after the Thirty Years’ War, the coastal city of Fredericia was fortified to prevent any further attacks. Today, you’ll go beyond the fortress walls and explore its history. Begin with a tour from the pier to the ramparts – which you can walk along – spotting vintage cannons, Danish war memorials and some of the large moated bastions – angular structures which allowed more room for artillery. Afterwards, you’ll head to the city centre and take in the well-preserved Medieval churches and parks.
