On this trip, you’ll have a chance to explore Lithuania’s third-largest city – Klaipeda. You’ll pass a sandy beach as you drift into port, but it’s the old town that takes centre stage here. After a quick photo stop at a towering war memorial, you’ll drive past the apartment blocks of the Soviet-influenced district. Here, you’ll pull up for a look at a traditional amber workshop. There’s a chance to meet the artisan craftsmen who cut, polish and bake the chunks of Baltic amber, and you’ll see a collection of intricate jewellery that’s the end product. Next, you’ll delve deeper into the heart of the city. Sip on amber-infused tea on one of the pretty town squares, before taking a guided tour of the grid-like lanes. The standout sight is picturesque Theatre Square, which has a statue dedicated to a German poet in the centre.
