With its magical Disney parades, edge-of-your-seat rides, and fireworks spectaculars, holidays to Lake Buena Vista will stay with you for the rest of your life.
Close to the action
Lake Buena Vista is so close to central Orlando, you can practically hear the rides from your doorstep. It’s totally geared up for families, with big hotels that offer XL rooms and shuttles to the theme parks. Shoppers often pitch up this way, too, as a host of Florida’s best malls and outlet centres are close by. And when you want to slow the pace a little, take a stroll along the shores of nearby Lake Bryan.
This place is right in the middle of Walt Disney World Resort, so it’s one of the best bases for visiting the Parks and entertainment hotspots. Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are all a couple of minutes’ drive away. Disney Springs is even closer, and lines up a bumper collection of lakeside eateries and bars.
Lake Buena Vista might be right in the middle of the state, but it’s within easy reach of either coast thanks to Florida’s skinny frame. A daytrip to the speedway capital of the USA, Daytona Beach, takes just over an hour by car. If you’d rather pay the west coast a visit, Clearwater Beach is a couple of hours’ drive away – it regularly ranks among the world’s best scoops of sand.
If you feel more at home with a putter or a driver in hand, you’re in the right place. Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is just around the corner – it’s a pro favourite, having hosted the PGA Tour in the past. There’s also Hawk’s Landing Golf Club, at the Orlando World Center Marriott, where you can play 18 holes in more than 220 acres of grounds.
