When it comes to International Drive holidays, size does matter. It's on the doorstep of thunderous rollercoasters, mammoth shopping malls, and more restaurants than you can shake a steak at.
Orlando’s tourist hub
International Drive is where everyone comes to eat, drink and have a good time in Orlando, when they’re not at the theme parks. Plus, Universal Orlando Resort’s perched at its northern end, so you’ll never be more than 15 minutes’ drive from the rides. The strip stretches for almost 20 miles. It’s so long, in fact, that there are even buses – dubbed I-RIDE Trolleys – to get you from A to B.
Swing, shop and skydive
This place has enough bars, restaurants and malls to be a town in its own right. Shop for bargain designer goods at the Orlando International Premium Outlets®, or browse the al fresco boutiques at Pointe Orlando. Activity-wise, you can try indoor skydiving, create your own chocolate bar, pose with waxworks at Madame Tussauds™ or tee off with pirates. Adventurous types even have the world’s tallest swing ride, which rises above the area’s huge observation wheel at 450 feet tall.
Dining with a twist
Just like its name suggests, this place really does have every kind of restaurant going. In ICON Park™ alone, you’ve got a burger joint, a French creperie, a tapas bar and a revolving sushi restaurant. Plus, plenty of meals come with a side of comedy, theatre and music. Watch acrobats fly through the sky at a pirate-inspired meal, or tuck in to a gala dinner aboard the Titanic. And that’s not even including the bars – there are British pubs, ice bars, piano lounges and shisha bars to try.
From restaurants to rides
Universal Orlando Resort brings even more shows to the table. This mammoth theme park and entertainment complex is within touching distance of International Drive, so it’s an easy family day out. There are three parks to work your way around, as well as a waterfront walk full of more restaurants, bars and shops. If that’s not enough thrills for you, you can head south to the parks of Walt Disney World Resort – they’re just 20 minutes’ drive away, too.
