Rixos The Palm Dubai
Rixos The Palm Dubai is nestled on the shores of the Persian Gulf, with a bank of white sand spread out on its doorstep.
This place might be in Dubai, but it's got all the hallmarks of an Ibizan beach property. By day, you can swim in a half-moon pool and alternate between five bars. And after dark, the hotel's neon glow's the backdrop for beach parties and live music.
Thanks to its setting at the edge of the Palm Jumeirah peninsula, the views of the city's star attractions are first class. Look across the skyline, and you'll see the sail-like Burj Al Arab and the gate-shaped outline of Atlantis, The Palm.

A La Turca buffet restaurant*►
This buffet restaurant serves a range of international cuisine and it's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. During the evenings there's live music on the terrace, while on the weekends you can enjoy brunch. And there are show-cooking stations, too.
There's a large outdoor pool here. It's surrounded by a spacious terrace that's lined with sunloungers and offers excellent views of the Dubai skyline. And there's a poolside bar, too.
At the spa you'll find a hammam, steam room, sauna, ice fountain, whirlpool bath, separate treatment rooms for men and women and an aerobics studio. There's plenty of treatments on offer here which are crafted from tea and essential oils. There's different types of massages including hot stone and aromatherapy, reflexology, body wraps and hair treatments.

While a lovely experience, I wouldn't classify this hotel Dubai-calibre 5*
The idea of a 5-star all-inclusive property in Dubai is so very alluring to a family traveling for some sun and sand in escape of a harsh winter climate. We are gold-status Accor members and to maintain loyalty to our ALL program we booked at Rixos the Palm. The first disappointment came when there was somehow miscommunication about our airport pickup and after a long day of traveling we were forced to find our own local taxi and pay nearly 200aed for a transfer that was meant to be complimentary. Secondly - the hotel, while beautifully situated on The Palm, is located at the furthestmost tip of the east crescent and this means that any journey into the city takes minimum 25-30 minutes. A boat shuttle option would have been a nice way to break up the repetition of taxis in and out every day to sightsee in the city. I wouldn't necessarily label the location as ideal (though in and of itself the property is lovely). I was surprised to see how dated this hotel is - especially since the Palm hasn't even been around for that long! We were upgraded to a 4-bedroom family pool suite and the bedding in numerous bedrooms was tattered / ripped (clean and pressed, but quite damaged). There was no pillow menu. Toiletry items were okay, but a far cry from luxury products offered at 5-star Accor properties. Our master bedroom had no hot water. Full stop. - I called front desk and they sent a technician. He assured me it was because there's only a 100L hot water tank and it must have drained. I wish I'd though to check this while he was there - but it turns out every one of our other bathrooms had hot water except the master (and yes, the strange light switch on the bathroom wall that controls the hot water was turned on). Towels are tired and desperately need replacement - they were coarse and uncomfortable to use (blue pool towels were much softer and much more enjoyable for after a bath or shower). Light switches in the rooms - I dont' even know where to begin. They are so counterintuitive - multiple switches on a single panel, labeled (which you can't see in the dark) and red/green lights indicate whether they're on/off. I wasn't surprised to read many more travelers complaining about this same design. The hotel room key cards demagnetize extremely easily. Just having your key card in your purse or pocket next to a cell phone will demagnetize it. We had 6 keys and on most days at least one of our group was locked out and needed to go to the front desk for a replacement. Front desk provided our group with power converters - a lovely touch! The hotel's minibar is complimentary and replenished daily - this was honestly so lovely and made a quick snacktime or drink-on-the-go really easy. 5* for this touch, for sure! I'm sure other traveling families would agree, non-alcoholic all-inclusive packages should be available. Family holidays are generally not all-night parties - sometimes guests dont drink for medical, religious etc. reasons. The dining was good for a buffet but wasn't outstanding. The food was generally lukewarm when served and cold to eat. The hotel is lacking a lobby bar. There is a indoor cafe and outdoor shisha bar but no central indoor lobby bar - the only option for a drink indoors is the steakhouse restaurant which is separate to the lobby, loud on nights with entertainment / DJ, and smoking is permitted indoors. It would be nice if guests with al-inclusive packages just received a wristband to avoid needing to wait for bills and signing for meals - this is an avoidable inconvenience. The hotel must, must, MUST replace their childrens' car seats. The toddler carseat we were given was in extremely shoddy shape, stained, very difficult to install and did not feel secure in the least. Our second toddler was forced to sit in an infant carrier as they confirmed the other toddler seat was already being used. The first infant carrier that came was broken and unusable. The second was in slightly better shape but still a far cry from what a parent wants their child sitting in. It was a sad unfortunate series of events when our hotel driver attempted to take us to the Red Dunes. He first drove us for one hour to a location that wasn't what we requested. He didn't actually know where it was we wanted to go - I had to look it up on his GPS for him. He got off the wrong exit on the highway to Hatta and when I asked what he was doing he said something about the exit being closed (it wasn't) - he turned around and went back toward Dubai for 10 minutes before he again exited the highway and turned back around toward Hatta. This added another 20 minutes to a trip that should have been in total no more than 45. It took us nearly 2 hours to get to the Red Dunes. (the driver himself was very lovely, just seemed very uncomfortable and lacking confidence on the road). Kids Club - this was such an awesome little pool to hang out with our 1.5 year old pre-swimmers! It's heated, shallow, and shaded. Unfortunately the club itself, especially the toddler area, is a little bare and difficult to keep small children occupied as most of the toys are just limp, oversized stuffed animals and very few interactive / working toys / activities. The shining star of our holiday was Maria at the Istanbul Patisserie in the lobby. Maria took the time to learn our names, get to know our children, tell us about her home country and her time in Dubai. Every day she greeted us personally with creative coffee designs and delicious desserts. She is absolutely exceptional and you should go out of your way to meet her! Also - this is weirdly related - the Rixos The Palm social media team is fantastic. I have loved following their posts and interacting with them, seeing their engagement with us, etc. Three cheers for this lovely effort, for sure! Sadly, I don't think we would go back to this property - there is definite room for improvement. Though, under the right circumstances, we would love to give it another try.More
Fabulous holiday - great room cleaning!
Nayan provided a fantastic service cleaning our room every day - with some brilliant towel art! Nothing was too much trouble and he left it spotless and tidy every day. Very pleasant and courteous too. Thank you!!More
Our family of 4 had a wonderful holiday at the Rixos Palm from Dec 28 - Dec31st 2019. We are avid travellers but found this spot to be the perfect place to unwind and be pampered at the end of a busy year. Amazing kids club (my kids are 4 and 6) with super friendly hosts and ample activities to keep them busy throughout the day. Hotel facilities are plentiful without them being overcrowded (and we went during peak season!) . Food is wow! Thanks Rixos for your hospitality! Will almost certainly return.More
