Hotel Riu Garoe
A pretty pool scene is the highlight here, and a shuttle bus makes light work of getting into town.
This hotel is in a quiet residential area. It’s 5 to 10 minutes’ walk from bars and restaurants, with lots more choice in the town itself – a shuttle bus does regular drop-offs there. The beach is 20 minutes away on foot.
Beautiful landscaped gardens provide the backdrop here. There’s a pool a piece for adults and children, and a buffet restaurant with an al fresco terrace. Activity-wise, you’ve got things like minigolf and tennis.

First rate hotel but just a few niggles
This is a good quality hotel. food, staff, room, pool, cleanliness etc as described in the the other reviews all very very good. However I have a few small negatives/well meant suggestions We had requested a double bed but had two single beds pushed together under a double cover--- beds were comfortable though. No readily available drinkingwater fountains or ice making facilities. Ice trays in room fridges? I am a gym user. Treadmill often u/s. Could do with a rowing machine, large general purpose mat, more free weights My biggest grumble--- surprisingly, no irons available for guest use. Apparently for health and safety reasons ( but there is an inhouse laundry service -but pricey ) Lastly entertainment bit of a let down Hopefully I do not come across as Mr. Grumpy, This a lovely hotelMore

My husband and I are looking forward to returning to this hotel in December! It is a superb hotel, and we can’t wait to return now we have booked! I hope that we are able to get the same room as last year. It had sun all day long on the balcony, ideal for sunbathing. Can’t remember the room number! whoops!More
Fabulous week in an exceptional hotel
This was our 2nd visit in 2 years to the Riu Garoe and it was as perfect as we remember it from last year. Peaceful, ,relaxing, clean, friendly and exceptional service all round. We want to go back already! The staff were truly amazing - nothing was too much trouble for them and they made such a fuss over our 2 young boys, helping to celebrate our youngest's birthday on our day of arrival and remembering them by their first names throughout the week. The hotel rooms we stayed in were immaculate, spacious and had a large balcony overlooking the front of the hotel with a view of mount Tiede. The pool area was peaceful and tranquil - a real haven for relaxation. We love the fact that people aren't allowed to reserve sunbeds as it meant we never had any trouble finding a spot for our party of six. The pool attendants were amazing and kept the pool area immaculately clean. Both of the swimming pools were heated which was a bonus. The children loved the tennis court and especially enjoyed a mini-golf activity organised by Miguel from the animation team. During our visit there was an amazing magic show which wowed not only the children but the adults in our party too. It was excellent entertainment. The food at this hotel is truly superb, the variety and quality of the food was excellent and beats all other hotels that we have stayed at. There was always choice and suitable foods for all of our family incuding the children who just loved the whole dining experience. We are excited to see the new refurbishments and will hopefully be returning next year!More
We tagged this hotel stay onto a Tui (Marella) cruise and so glad we did. The rooms were very clean and included a god selection of teas. There were Robes provided in the room and a section of toiletries. The pool and gardens were excellent and the pool supervisor was great. He provided cushions for the sunbeds and towels, nothing was too much trouble for him. He also ensured no beds were reserved and made sure everyone showered before entering the pool. The star point of the hotel was the food, it was fantastic, great selection and perfectly cooked, wow. Only spent 3 nights there but will definitely return for longer next time.More
35 Euro Short of Perfect!
We have just returned from a week at this resort and have to say we did have a very relaxing time. The local people were really friendly and welcoming, we didn't venture out much but felt very safe when we did. The hotel staff (apart from one grumpy waitress!) were lovely, really couldn't do enough for us and made our stay even more of a pleasure. The food in the evenings was incredible, lots of choice, every night was different, the only point I would make is that there wasn't much choice for children so my son preferred the breakfast which had just about everything with chocolate! The room, in fact every corner of the hotel was absolutely spotless. The hotel is about to be refurbished, although the room was comfortable, they will be even better when they have a modern make over and some more sockets! The internet in the room simply didn't work but was fine in the communal areas. The facilities were good but again were in need of an upgrade, the gym equipment will be updated and a spa and wellness centre will be added during the refurbishment which will certainly appeal to many. So, the 35 Euro!? We weren't leaving until 6pm and asked if we could keep the room as the hotel was not receiving any new guests and the room wouldn't need cleaning as the builders would be moving in so I thought it was a fair request. Sadly we were told we would be charged the normal 35 euro for this, which under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have questioned, but I did feel it was unfair given the impending closure. Perhaps I am being a little unfair, perhaps I got caught up in the whole 'we are all family here' speech we received from the management during the welcome meeting and thought this request for an extension would be better received! Either way, we will definitely stay at this hotel again and would not hesitate in recommending it to others.More
