Hotel Riu Garoe
A pretty pool scene is the highlight here, and a shuttle bus makes light work of getting into town.
This hotel is in a quiet residential area. It’s 5 to 10 minutes’ walk from bars and restaurants, with lots more choice in the town itself – a shuttle bus does regular drop-offs there. The beach is 20 minutes away on foot.
Beautiful landscaped gardens provide the backdrop here. There’s a pool a piece for adults and children, and a buffet restaurant with an al fresco terrace. Activity-wise, you’ve got things like minigolf and tennis.

Recent stay following a cruise
This hotel is located in a residential area out of the way of the small resort the food is average at best the rooms are fab spacious and clean the staff especially the bar staff are very attentive unfortunately we were there just as the hotel went into shutdown and the reception staff were not very helpful or efficient just shut everything down bars and the snack bar which was lovely better than the restaurant food rabbit squid mainly aimed at German guests I understand the shutdown was necessary but did not tell people the restaurant was open for lunch downstairs I also felt the German residents got priority which was not a good feeling I will not return to this hotel More
Super hotel from all aspects
Stayed for only 4 days (wished it was more) after a cruise, having paid a bit extra. So glad we did, the rooms are beautifully designed and faultless. Top quality food offer, with too much choice...ate far too much...Outdoor facilities were great - big main pool for a proper swim, plenty of comfortable new sun beds, nice gardens. Main hotel spotlessly clean everywhere. Located out of main town, so it’s quiet. But a good uphill walk back if you miss the minibus or go Sunday’s when it doesn’t run. Thinking of going back for a hotel - only stay, which we don’t usually do, it was that good.More

Love this hotel
This was our 6th visit to The Riu Garoe, and our 1st since the refurbishment last year. All i can say is this place just got better. The bedrooms,Dining Room and new Spa are a revelation. Every thing is so light and airy, without losing the character it had before. The staff, the cleanliness, the attention to detail is outstanding. The Director of the hotel Luis Hernandez is always at hand and a very visible presence. If you need anything he is your man. The only thing i would mention which is no a criticism,is the beautiful spa would attract more guests if prices were reduced somewhat. So if you are looking for a great hotel,in peaceful surroundings this is for you. It is not for party animals. More
Our second visit here, the refurbishment has made an already lovely hotel even better. The staff are superb friendly and efficient, we were there during the sandstorm, the staff were amazing at how quickly they cleared everything up and remained friendly and cheerful throughout. As before the food at breakfast and evening meal was superb, a large variety of dishes and options for all types of diet. We hope to return next year would not consider another hotel as we are sure we would be disappointed following our stays hereMore
Perfect Peaceful Tranquil Break
My husband n I choose to stay at this lovely hotel for 4 days following a Canary Cruise n were so glad we did. The hotel rooms n dining room has recently been updated to a high standard like the rest of the hotel though the inner centre heart of the hotel where entrance to the rooms are has maintained the charming original Canarian authentic style. The rooms are all fantastic n roomy n very elegantly restyled, roomy n very comfortable and have everything you could ever wish for...and much more. We were very impressed by the complimentary Cava, fruit and even a beautiful fresh flower arrangement. The hotel is just spectacular with marble floor tiles in reception, lounge area n bar area n quiet library area. Pool area is so clean n well kept as are the beautiful garden areas. We never had a problem getting a sunbed. The dining room is very well organised n buffet self service. Breakfast is varied with many choices including omelettes cooked to order with many other things to choose from n very relaxed. You are allocated your own table for evening meal which is yours for the duration of your stay. There was a very good choice available again in the evening with steaks, fish n other meats cooked to order with many other choices including pasta dishes n pizzas with the usual salads n bread n rolls n yummy desserts, cakes, fresh fruit salads, ice cream n a chocolate fountain and many other things to choose from. You are spoiled for choice! There are 2 dining times, one at 6.15pm and the other at 8pm (latter was ours) which was perfect as we had time to have a rest B4 evening meal then have a couple of drinks in the lounge bar/entertainment area. We found all the bar n dining room staff to be very happy n helpful. The reception staff welcomed you on arrival with a glass of fruit punch which was lovely. Really could not say one bad comment abt this hotel. Senor Luis Fernandez (the hotel manager) is out n around the hotel chatting to the guests and only too happy to do his best to grant, if he can, any special requests. If you want a quiet relaxing holiday..this place is perfect. If you like a bit more hustle n bustle n kids entertainment n water slides then this is def not the place for you. We have already booked to go back next year and may even try to squeeze in another week B4 that we liked it so much! with a lovely glass of fruit punch while checking you in The reception area is magnificent n very impressive as is everything abt this hotel. The guests are mostly German but we found most of them to be very sociable n chatted n joked with quite a few of them. There were a few other British couples at the hotel during our short stay which we wish had been longer. There is a free shuttle bus into Puerto de La Cruz itself which has many shops and bars with a lovely Lido a open air pool which is a great area to sunbathe if you so wish. There are many high rise hotels here overlooking the sea in which surfer were riding the large waves. If you like a bit more going on then this is the place to be but if you prefer much quieter surroundings then the Riu Garoe is def the place to be. There is also a fantastic new spa with sauna, steam rooms n pool, half of which turns into jacuzzi at touch of a button. There are many other treatments n varied massages available here.
