Hotel Riu Garoe
A pretty pool scene is the highlight here, and a shuttle bus makes light work of getting into town.
This hotel is in a quiet residential area. It’s 5 to 10 minutes’ walk from bars and restaurants, with lots more choice in the town itself – a shuttle bus does regular drop-offs there. The beach is 20 minutes away on foot.
Beautiful landscaped gardens provide the backdrop here. There’s a pool a piece for adults and children, and a buffet restaurant with an al fresco terrace. Activity-wise, you’ve got things like minigolf and tennis.

Relaxing family holiday
Just back from a lovely week at Riu Garoe hotel. We all had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful hotel. We used the shuttle bus that the hotel provide to take us to the Lago Martinez salt water pools and enjoyed a day there. I cannot find fault with anything, the hotel was spotless, the food was very enjoyable and varied. The staff were attentive and always happy which made our holiday even better. My 2 children had a lovely time too and didn't want to leave. We will definitely be returning to this hotel again and will explore the island more on our next visit. More
A bit Jekyll and Hyde, but generally good.
This was our first visit since the refurbishment, and the first with our 8 year old grandson. We found the "new" hotel much as before, but with one or two weaknesses that deter from its general excellence. We arrived late and although check in was very pleasant, the member of staff forgot our tickets for pool towels. The best way to the room was not pointed out to us (we had forgotten the closest elevator) and we had a loner walk than necessary. Minor "bad points" but the cold collation awaiting us in the rooms (two adjoining, perfect-ish) was enormous. we were sorry we were so tired we could not do it justice. Good point. The rooms were, as always, comfortable and well equipped, the new walk-in shower excellent, and the beds separated, ideal for daughter and grandson. But the door our side of the join of rooms would not open e asily- caused by a "bubble" in the flooring. Again a small point, but it should have been checked and dealt with. The food in the restaurant was good, always something interesting to eat, my daughter was quite impressed by the vegetarian options. Chocolate fountain for dinner one night much appreciated by grandson, but when it reappeared at breakfast another day - heaven! But there were weaknesses here too. While it was acceptable to wait a few minutes for the freshly cooked items at dinner, breakfasts were different. One member of staff to cook omelettes, fried eggs, and bacon a lot of the time, so selections were missing or you had to wait a long time. But the good points might have made up for this. Real "British" bacon every day (first time I have seen this in Rius) and the mini tortillas were excellent. Happy hour in the bar was slightly spoiled by the way it was organised- staff took orders en masse and then spent a long time filling them, resulting in a 20 minute wait one night. But the 2 for 1 aspect was much appreciated by the rest of the family, and it allowed us to sit with drinks having a great family whist competition for 6 evenings, very enjoyable. So, all in all, a good hotel, with helpful staff, a pleasant atmosphere and good facilities. Spoilt a bit by the little things, the hotel is well worth a visit for most people and we would certainly return, if we can.More
An Amazing Hotel
We have just spent a week in this hotel and can not recommend it enough. All of the hotel staff are fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Plenty of storage room available and the walk in shower was brilliant. There was a wide variety of food available to suit all tastes and dietary needs. Nice and quiet so you could get a good night’s sleep. Facilities were very good. Will certainly be returning.More

Very good hotel
We had an enjoyable 10 days here. The rooms are pleasant and reasonably sized rather than luxurious. They have been recently refurbished and have good lighting and plenty of storage. It was nice that bathrobes come as standard. The walk in shower is excellent. Cleaning is of high quality. The bathroom could do with a soap dish and only being able to connect 2 devices to wi fi at a time is a nuisance. The location is around 20-30 minutes walk from Puerto de la Cruz - several routes avoiding the road. All are steep but not really a problem. In any case there is a bus back...we always walked. It is a quiet area close to the Botanic Gardens. Walking east from the hotel takes you to a black sand beach with a nice cafe on the cliffs above. Parking was free but luck of the draw how close to the hotel - a bit of a pain the first night as we got there around 10pm - otherwise fine. The hotel is the right side of town to access the main road north and south which was useful for touring. The food was good and varied - plenty of choice- the bread was especially noteworthy. The paella was also good. Drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel. There are two sittings for dinner - we asked in advance for the later sitting which again worked well. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We wanted to change rooms and this was handled well. Overall a great stay...and good value too. More
We loved this hotel very much!!!! The rooms are big and spacious, well equipped and maintained. When we checked in we got (complimentary) fruits, water and kava in each room. We had breakfast and dinner which were excellent, very varied and never the same. Must write about the staff - superb! Always helping with a smile. The pool area is very nice, also the bar and most of the public areas. Only place to be taken care is the gym. In general we had an excellent experience, and definitely recommend this hotel!!!!!More
