WOW,What can i say just the best.Got to hotel about 10.45pm they laid on a dinner for us,after checking in.Before we went i e-mailed and asked for a high room, and we got the top floor 608, stunning views of the sea and the other side was mountains.Went to breakfast next morning and great food, anything you could think off was there.Never ate the same food twice while we was there,(and my wife is a very fussy vegetarian).Staff were so polite and helpful.Even after i went swimming with key card in my pocket and my wife lost the card while out shopping. The evening entertainment was'nt bad, but, for us only couple of nights worth staying for.Sweet Soul Experience were very good, also i found most support acts were better.Room was very clean and tidy, great shower and facilities.I see a lot of reviews saying about squatters and bringing down the area, true it does look a bit unkept, but we went passed them almost every day and they are no bother at all.Overall this hotel is everthing you could want for a holiday,so do youself a favour book a break there you wo'nt be dissapointed.More
One of the best hotels I've ever seen
Short story: Awesome hotel. Incredibly clean and well maintained with helpful staff. Long story: read bellow for highlights and more LOCATION: The hotel is located at the end of Los Cristianos. It's right next to the ferry so you can occasionally hear their horns (only during the day). Next door (200-300m) there is a building which was partially taken over by homeless, but they don't really care about you, and they just mind their own business. On the ground floor there is a small "commercial center" with a news paper stand, cheap souvenirs, cloths shops, a pharmacy, emergency doctor, etc. Across the street you have a supermarket for the rest of what you might want to get. ROOM AMNESTIES: You get a fully filled bathroom, including emergency shaving kit, sewing kit and dental kit. You get a tee/instant coffee corner and two 0.5L waters. The waters are replenished daily. You get two beach towels vouchers, and can replace you towels daily. There is a safe in the room, but you have to pay 3Euros/day for it. It is annoying but this is standard for Spain, so no point deducted for this. The nice part is that the safe is digital. In order hotels they enforce this by giving you a safe key which you have to carry around. there is also a mini-fridge, for the minibar. they ask you at the beginning if you want it open. you will have to pay something. i don't know how much as I never wanted it. CUSTOMERS: the average age, as mentioned by others, is around 60+. there are a lot of old people. The majority seems to come from UK, with Germany being in the second place. FOOD: The hotel is big and this allows it to offer a wide range of food, so there is always something to eat for everyone. unfortunately, having to make food for so many people, means the quality can't be top notch, and I felt quantity over quality. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, I just think it could be better with small tries. the grill was always unseasoned and some of the meats were also a bit of a let down. The fruits were all a bit blunt (except for the pineapple) and the cakes were really more for show than for taste. The sushi night was amazing. I never had so good sushi. it was fresh and perfectly cooked. Breakfast was delicious. I preferred the fried eggs and the grilled bacon. TIP: you have to try the red caviar and the orange juice machine. It's incredible. Never had such good juice in my life. Drinks at dinner were reasonably priced. ~3Euros for a beer, 1.5Euros for small water and 3 for a large one. TIP: if you get a wine bottle, they will store it for you until next day if you can't finish it. everything is run on an account system. You basically charge everything to your room (thought your room card) and pay it all at once at checkout. ROOMS: Rooms have AC, a balcony with a sun shade and sun chairs. the furniture is updated and everything looks well. they are very well CLEANED. never seen rooms so clean in a hotel. they properly de-dust them and make sure everything is spotless. NEVER have I seen such a clean room in a hotel on a daily basis. I was really amazed. There are more than enough hangers for your cloths and even a light in the wardrobe. towels can be replaced daily and you even have the option to get your sheets replaced if you are one of those guys. There is no smoking in the room or on the balcony. Don't be that guy that smokes on the balcony as the neighbors around you don't have to take your cigarette smoke in their room if they want to enjoy the sea breeze. HOTEL LOOKS: the hotel, at first look was a bit too much with all the plants inside, and water cascade and zen garden. it ended up growing on me and loved it. I loved the flowers on the balcony and the flowers all around. BAR: the bar in the evening is reasonably priced: around 6.5Euros/cocktail with a day's special running around 5 Euros. For this price, you get a properly done cocktail and they never actually penny pinch on the drinks. they more or less eye the alcohol but in the customers advantage. STAFF: staff is always with a smile on their face, trying to go the extra mile to make you feel at home. they will try to great you every time they see you, see how your day was and what they can do for you, and serve you with a big smile. you can see they are taken care of and enjoy their work. THE LOW-LIGHTS: 1) Parking is hard to find sometimes after 20:30. you can park in the supermarket yellow lined parking until 9:00 the next working day, as from 9 to 13:00 it's a loading only zone. This is not the hotels fault though. 2) sunbeds reservation: especially the germans love to reserve the sunbeds with towels the entire day. sometimes they keep them reserved more than used. this is annoying but, I've seen this in every resort and have no idea how this could be mitigated. they have signs but I have no actual solution for them. So I will not blame it for them. 3) bar service and terrace: during evening, the bar is running a bit slow. The waiters have a great attitude but sometimes I feel they are a bit overloaded. I felt bad for them as some of the customers were rude and impatient. I would of loved to have a smokers/non-smokers section on the terrace.I tried a few times to stay on the terrace, but I was always unlucky to get smokers all around. some of them would light one after putting out the other and were really inconsiderate to the others. We ended up taking our drinks on our balcony and have seen others doing the same. Maybe it's just me being picky, but would of enjoyed a smoke free environment, especially in this day and age when smoking is less and less tolerated.More
OK not great - stay at the Arona Gran
Stayed here from the 31st May - 7th June 2019. Last year we stayed at the Arona Gran (spring hotel) we chose this hotel due to the location as it is more central, also because we loved the Arona Gran and as it’s a sister hotel we thought it would be of the same standard. The hotel has a lovely grand exterior, and the hotel lobby is very elegant. Breakfast was good and plentiful. However I found the staff to be extremely unfriendly. The evening meal was not up to standard and there was not much choice - mainly fish, rice, chips every night. The pools were cold and very crowded sun loungers not much space. We stayed on the 6th floor and the lifts were a pain - had to wait around five minutes to move anywhere. On the last day we were picked up at 5pm - so I asked for a late check out to which they said the hotel was fully booked. However this was not the case as they gave me a courtesy room to get changed in. The other guests that were staying in the hotel were very rude - we are a young couple in our late 20s and we constantly were being looked up and down. Please note this hotel is very much for the older generation and anyone under 40 will be given a funny look by the other guests in the hotel!! Pros: Location - 5 minute walk Bedroom - very modern Cons: Food - very similar every night not enough choice and tables crowded Staff - rude Pools cold - unable to swim Sun lounger space crowded - not enough room and crowded pool area Other guests - make you feel uncomfortable in the hotel facility After staying at the Arona Gran I was very disappointed at this hotel - stay at the Arona Gran and taxi into Las America’s!!!More
it was a beautiful, quiet hotel. Friendly staff, room clean daily. The 2 main selling points according to hubby was proper back bacon at breakfast and there was plenty of sunbeds available plus they were comfy padded sunbedsMore
Our 15th visit here so you won’t be disappointed at all. The whole team are fabulous always say hello with a smile from them having worked long hours. We stayed in the UP which is an exclusive area on the roof for a number of paying guests. Special mention to Nerissa & Sabrina who work tirelessly to keep us all happy. Also to Ronald, the pool attendant keeping the area tidy. Thank you. I noticed a previous review from a Mr Abby England please do not let this put you off this lovely hotel. We all witnessed his behaviour at that time which was totally uncalled for as they were in the wrong. Food is amazing loads of choice both breakfast and dinner time. Men wear long trousers in the evening which is a lovely touch. Some tried to get in with shorts but quickly asked to leave and change - good customer service. We have never had a problem with the hotel or to complain. A big thank you to all the staff will be returning next year again.More
