Riu Arecas Hotel
This adults-only hotel gives you a triple helping of pools, and it’s just a short walk to the beach.
This huge building is shaped like a cruise liner. On one side you’ve got the Adeje mountains and, on the other, views of the Atlantic Ocean. Within the hotel, there's a trio of pools and a buffet restaurant.
The hotel’s in an upmarket part of Costa Adeje, just a five-minute drive from the centre. And it’s a five-minute cab ride in the other direction to La Caleta, a fishing village home to bars and restaurants.

Fantastic Holiday - Fly and Flop
An amazing 10 day stay at this adults only hotel. Having seen some of the earlier reviews which were mixed, we can honestly say that we did not find many faults at all with this hotel. Staff are very friendly and extremely helpful at all times, especially the receptionists. Food choices very good indeed and the options fulfilled the majority of the muti-national guests. The Ole restaurant which everyone is entitled to utilise (booking required) was a very pleasant evening, with plenty of choice and replenished often for the selected diners, up to 50. Choices of drinks very good indeed, you can pay cash for these or sign chits. Remember you do not get priced copies of signed chits but reception will update as required of expenses. The two pools by the hotel were great and plenty of sunbeds available, no need to reserve even though some did and hotel policy was to remove, but did not see this occur. The poolside bar did serve drinks, ice creams, but no snacks for lunch. Did go to the area of the infinity pool to see, but did not utilise, however, there are 75-80 steps to negotiate each way if guests are slightly unstable on their feet. There is a snack bar there which does limited lunchtime snacks, unsure of pricing. Entertainment was of a variety of choice but maybe some of the acts could be put back half an hour, as some performers had limited audience as people still at dinner. Rooms spacious and though the cleaners do commence work early they were professional and did not make unnecessary noise as had been described. If you are a party goer, then maybe this hotel is not of you, or just put up the 'do not disturb notice'. Fridge spacious enough for litre bottles of water to accommodate and air-con had 3 settings, plus room had an electric ceiling fan if required. Location is the west of Adeje almost within Caletta, which is a short walk and a pleasant village for a meander and coffee overlooking the bay. The gym facilities open at 7 in the morning so those fitness opportunities can be completed by 8 - 8.30 and then the rest of the day is yours. There is also the health area, jacuzzi/sauna for use at no extra cost. There is a Spa within for individual treatments (no couple options on the brochure), separate to the hotel with prices similar to those of the UK. No programmed activities at this hotel. Price for security boxes, is slightly expensive, but 2 Euros per day is for your own benefit. There are plenty of shops, some very exclusive, within short walking distance of the hotel, but be prepared for higher prices. Catch the bus to the main areas of Adeje, Christianos and Las Americas for better priced options. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will have no hesitation in booking here again. Only criticism as has been reported before, men are asked to dress for dinner, long trousers and minimum of T shirt, but females do not necessarily have this dress code and some of their attire had to be seen to be believed. Needs to be inclusive for males and females if that is the desired rules. Fantastic hotel to Fly and Flop as we call it.More
Couples rest break
Lovely relaxing hotel. Exceptionally clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms basic but clean. Food excellent- shame not all inclusive option. Bars great. Pools clean and plenty of sun beds - some people still feel a need to reserve them. Had a great rest thank you. Also, would like to see non smoking rooms, and areas around the pool and bars. More
What a Fantastic Hotel !
This is an adult only hotel by RIU. The hotel is excellent all round. It is situated in Costa Adeje and is in a quiet location however taxis are available on request at reception. It boasts 2 swimming pools at the main hotel and an infinity pool on the beach front. There are plenty of sun beds available and you do not have to get up early and take part in a mad rush for them. There is a pool bar at both the main pools and the infinity pool and the drinks selection is superb and also very reasonably priced. The staff are all so friendly and couldn't do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is buffet self service but the selection and quality of the food was fantastic. The rooms are spacious with well equipped bathrooms and over looked the pools area. On checking out we had a late evening flight and although we had to vacate the room by 11am we were able to book one of the 2 courtesy rooms to shower and change after a full day by the pool soaking up the last bit of sun. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely return. A big thank you to all the management and staff !!More
Just returned from a week at the Rui Arecas, hotel is spotless, staff are very helpful and polite. Being quite a fussy eater I found no problem finding something to eat every day, the choice and quality of food was very good. Overall this is a brilliant hotel in a lovely location, found it very quiet and relaxing. We do like to wander around and it is a decent walk into the main area if you do it every day but you can catch a bus right outside and taxis are easy to get. My only moan is no kettle in the room, the wife is like Attila the Hun in a morning before a cuppa😀More
Perfect relaxing holiday
We especially liked the hotel because of the relaxing atmosphere, the room, the beds, the staff, the food (breakfast & dinner - but see comment below), the Olé-restaurant and the swimming pools. Other positive items: the gym and hamam, the quiet location, the poolbar. Our special thanks to 2 members of the staff that were always very professional: Christian (mess) and Vera (reception). Minor issue: the pastry at the dessert buffet was not our taste - rather tasteless. Given the very tasteful and high quality other food the contrast is big.More
