Riu Arecas Hotel
This adults-only hotel gives you a triple helping of pools, and it’s just a short walk to the beach.
This huge building is shaped like a cruise liner. On one side you’ve got the Adeje mountains and, on the other, views of the Atlantic Ocean. Within the hotel, there's a trio of pools and a buffet restaurant.
The hotel’s in an upmarket part of Costa Adeje, just a five-minute drive from the centre. And it’s a five-minute cab ride in the other direction to La Caleta, a fishing village home to bars and restaurants.

The perfect holiday
My wife and I have just returned from two weeks half board at the wonderful Rui Arecas. This is a beautiful spotlessly clean hotel situation a prime position with wonderful sea views from most of the rooms. We were lucky enough to have a view of the 2 swimming pools as well as the sea from our third floor room. In addition to the pools at the main hotel area ,they also have an infinity pool near to the promenade which is private and reserved for guests only. It’s constructed as a beachside and has lots of shade and no shortage of sun beds. I should add that this is an adults only hotel and as a result is very peaceful. The restaurant is well organised and the food is varied and delicious ! In addition to the main indoor seating area the restaurant also has large outdoor covered/exposed dining area which is lovely setting to enjoy bread dinner. We were half board, but the facilities, the pools and food were so good, we also made use of the restaurant for an occasional lunch. Great value! Having said all of this ,it’s the staff attitude which makes or breaks it for me. They were absolutely amazing in their approach and I am full of praise for each and every one them . I can honestly say that I was overwhelmed by their attention to detail,it was top class. This was our third time at this hotel in 3 years and we will return. More
Super relaxing break
My wife and I have just returned from another super break at the Riu Arecas . Very little has changed since we were there last year. The hotel is super clean and the staff very helpful . Dining room offered and excellent range of eats to satisfy all tastes and the entertainment in the evening was good. Only one let down was the lack of being able to extend our room as we had a late flight home. This had to be done on the morning of departure and is a hit or a miss if you are successful . Spoiled the end of what was a great holiday . Will I return - of course !!!!More
Pool view room without a pool view
This hotel is very clean, the staff friendly and food good. However we booked with TUI and paid for a pool view room as it was our wedding anniversary whilst we were there and didn’t want to risk getting a room overlooking the road. When we arrived we were shown to our room which was on the fourth floor (4028), which was nice but in need of an update but it was very clean so that didn’t bother us. When we went onto the balcony it was very private but with a solid concrete wall running along the front of the balcony so there was no view unless you actually looked over the balcony wall. We went down to reception to explain and requested a room where you could actually see the pool when sat on the balcony as a big part of our holiday consists of us sitting on the balcony after having our evening meal and going for a walk. There were some rooms with glass frontage to the balcony, but were told these rooms were booked in advance. We said we had booked in advance. Even though a couple of these rooms appeared vacant I got the impression they were saving these for clients who were coming in the next day, which seemed unfair and should be allocated in a first come first serve basis. They showed us an alternative room which was tucked away in a corner next to the entertainment area with a garden view, so we declined it. We saw the TUI rep next day and right up to 5th day of our holiday and explained the situation but it never got resolved. She did say that technically it was a pool view because when you looked over the balcony you could see the pool ?.we have made an official complaint to TUI but haven’t heard anything yet. The food is good and you could always find something to eat. We have stayed at the Riu Palace and we thought the food was better there but it is a more expensive hotel. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is very clean. Iam not sure if I would return to this hotel as it would be difficult to get a proper pool view room if requested. I think Tui should make it clear that not all pool view rooms are actually pool view.More

A lovely seven night stay
This was our second visit to the Arecas. The first time being around three years ago. This time we booked a room with a pool view as on our first stay we had a room close to the very noisy generators or air conditioning units ( not quite sure what they are) . We did however manage to move after a few days to a quieter area. Our pool view room this holiday was in a shady corner on the third floor with no real view of a pool but a nice view of the sea. So we were quite happy with it. The whole of the hotel is spotlessly clean and majority of staff are polite. The buffet restaurant was very busy but well organised. It’s a shame the tables for two are so very close to one another but I don’t suppose this can be avoided. The food for both breakfast and evening meal was very good with plenty of choice. The Ole restaurant is worth trying to. The drinks are reasonably priced. We didn’t stay in to see most of the evening entertainment on offer. Most of our time was spent in the gardens of the infinity pool area over looking the sea front. Never had a problem getting a bed down there no matter what time we arrived. This hotel in our opinion is located in the nicest part of Adeje. It has a more upmarket feel. We enjoyed lovely walks along the seafront. Caletta is nice to have a walk to where there are a few bars overlooking the sea. Well done to the staff at this hotel you’re doing a great job and we hope to visit again one day.More
