Rooms are not properly air conditioned
We'll start with the cons and then move to the pros as there are some despite the 1 star rating. First of all I have thought long and hard about whether to give a 1 star review and have decided it's only fair as I had 3 ruined nights of sleep and almost paid another €1000 to find another hotel with decent AC as it was ruining my holiday which was only 1 week long. So I'll cut straight to the chase, the rooms do NOT have proper air conditioning where you can set the temperature of the room, they just have comfort cooling which is a weak form of AC that means it can only reduce the temperature by a few degrees (there's 3 power settings). This didn't bother me during the day when I was mostly out and about but my sleep was ruined for 3 nights on the trot because of this and I had to sleep in the car on the 4th 'day' just to get cool which ended up as a lost day and by that point I was also highly agitated and upset due to the lack of sleep. The knock on effect of this was I stopped taking my blood pressure medication as that does make me slightly warmer and this meant I really suffered when I climbed Mount Teide and was totally out of breath, obviously it's also not good to stop taking medication! Eventually we were moved to another room that was slightly cooler as it got less sun during the day and that managed to just be OK. For reference we were moved from room 787 to 725 which was a shame as 787 had a better view but 725 had a more powerful cooler. My partner got better sleep in room 725 too as it was cooler but she doesn't suffer with the heat as much as me so she fared better overall. ** If anyone from the hotel is reading this we asked 3 times for someone to check the AC or provide a fan and it wasn't until the last time that someone actually went and checked, unfortunately they just reported that the air temperature coming out of the AC was 16c and thus working correctly. What they didn't report on was the volume of air which was so small it made almost no difference to the room temperature. Also even in the cooler room I had to sleep under just a sheet as the duvet was so too hot. ** If the hotel had been advertised as having comfort cooling I would NOT have stayed here and thus wouldn't have left a 1 star review so this has been brought on entirely by themselves. The other negative was there was lots of noise from the gym and pool aerobics in the morning so this is not a serene chilled out hotel but there wasn't any noise in the evening. Positives Most of the staff were very nice, pleasant and helpful apart from one particular one who was very difficult to deal with but I won't mention names. The Club area is quieter, chilled out and has much better beds including Bali beds. Breakfast is good quality and is always stocked up. Pork burger was very tasty. Hotel is close to Puerto Colon with lots of activities like Jet Skiing, sailing and scuba diving etcMore
This hotel stands out aesthetically amongst its peers on the Adeje coast due to its beautiful white moorish architecture, seafront location with spectacular views, and multiple pool areas and gardens with palm trees. We stayed here the week Tenerife had its first coronavirus case further up the coast and also the week of the bad sandstorm. It’s a measure of the hotel’s staff how hard they worked after the sandstorm to clean the entire complex within a day after the storm. The pools had to be emptied and cleaned, as did all the bedrooms/balconies, dining rooms, and sunbathing areas as there was a layer of sand/dust over absolutely everything on the first morning after the storm. Some staff were friendlier than others at breakfast, it had to be said, and sometimes it was a struggle to find a table which has been cleared of the previous persons’ dirty plates. Great choice of hot and cold breakfast buffet food though and we were very happy with the standard of cleaning in our rooms. On booking we had reservations we might feel like 2nd class citizens for not upgrading to Club. We need not have worried and preferred to have an evening walk along the seafront, explore and eat out out at various waterfront restaurants watching the sun going down each evening. The hotel had some nice live music acts in the bar area later on in the evenings. Sandstorm aside, I found our stay very relaxing and loved it so much I have booked to return in October (Covid-19 and travel permitting). This time I’ve booked a pool view, as the outlook of the rooms does vary quite a bit due to the layout of the hotel, and some rooms on the back and the side of the building do inevitably overlook the approach road to the hotel. It is a stone’s throw away from the small harbour and main bus routes which is great if, like us, you want to go whale watching and take a bus up the coast to Los Gigantes or to other attractions.More
During my 3rd stay at this lovely hotel in December 2019 I had problems. I have been emailing and sending letters to Zaffino Amadeo [Hotel Client Manager] asking him for the name and email address of the hotel's general manager, the name of the company who owns the hotel and the address of their registered office. I have had no reply. If anybody out there has this information I would be grateful for it.More
Large but welcoming hotel with great gardens and views
The Hotel is very centrally located with lots of shops, restaurants and other amenities on your doorstep. Definitely one of the best hotels in this area, it has a good range of it's won bars and restaurants if you don't fancy going out. The staff were cheerful, welcoming and helpful. The actual hotel is clean and seems efficiently ran with plenty of people on hand to help you if needed. The rooms were clean and well-sized, spacious bathroom and with good storage space too. The actual hotel design is quirky and the gardens are really well tended, even if you're not the kind of person who normally notices the flowers you will here - the details make a difference!More
Great hotel, in an ideal location for ones stay and with wonderful staff who made us most welcome even though tenerife was moving to full lockdown due to the virus. I really will consider returning hereMore
