We stayed for 10 days just before the lockdown due to the Coronavirus. Heard on the Saturday that our airline had cancelled all flights with immediate effect but later that day received a message that our flight on Sunday would fly as planned but this would be last opportunity to leave. Relieved and thankful. The hotel was excellent in every respect. It is exceptionally clean and has enjoyed a recent refurbishment. Staff in every area very friendly and professional. The food was of a very high standard with good variety. Thank you to all at Riu Palace Palmeras. More
Difficult times - but the staff were great!
We recently spent 10 days at the RIU Palace Palmeras – half of which was during the Covid-19 lockdown... The hotel was fully refurbished last year and everywhere is clean, bright and well presented. The rooms are slightly on the small side, but hold twin beds and a 2-seater sofa, so are more than adequate and have been refurbished to a good standard. We didn't get a chance to try the Krystal restaurant, but the buffet served a good variety of food, which was well presented. The staff were extremely helpful, and coped very well with the “social distancing” issues once the restrictions kicked in. The swimming pools are crystal clear and the grounds are very well maintained. The views from the hotel are lovely. The buildings between the hotel and the promenade are all low-rise, so we had uninterrupted views of the sea and the Maspalomas sand dunes. Although our activities were seriously curtailed, we absolutely loved the hotel and will be more than happy to return once the current chaos has subsided. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank each and every member of staff who looked after us so well, and did their very best to keep us safe and well in extremely challenging circumstances. We wish you well for the future and, hopefully, look forward to returning in happier times. More
Just arrived home from the Palmeras. You could not fault anything. Food was 100% all the time, loads of choice. Spotlessley clean, rooms were lovley, drink was good. Loads of sunbeds. The staff work very hard and are always very pleasant and cheerful. It was my birthday while we were there and they went our of their way to make it special. The Krystal a la carte restaurant is definatley worth booking, it looks like there will be another a la carte opening soon at the hotel. I personally thought this hotel was in the perfect location, not to near the hustle and bustle but only a 10 minute walk either way to the centre or the beach. There is a centre across the road with bars and shops if needed. Cant wait to return.More
Fab hotel and service
Decided to get some winter sunshine and so glad we chose this hotel. Greeted with a glass of bubbly and shown up to our room which had amazing views and took in the sun for most of the day. The service in the hotel was excellent from very helpful staff. Usual issues with towels being put on sun lounges by the pool but this was rectified during the week (someone took all the towels and put them in a pile away from the pool area). The A la carte restaurant was very good but could have done with some music. The evening entertainment was average but there was lots to do and sed in the resort. The hotel is a short stroll from a very long beach with bars, restaurants and beautiful sand dunes. Definitely worth exploring the island. The north is much greener and milder, where they make wine and rum. We've already booked another holiday to the island.More
An honest review
We arrived on the 17th of Feb staying for 14 nights, check in was fast and very friendly,we were allocated room 56 which was a garden view room, very clean and large ,good bathroom, plenty of storage space and plenty of hangers for our clothes, the cleaner /maid we had did a fantastic job and was really pleasant. There were plenty of sunbeds round the two pools,we found a couple that gave us sunshine most of the day. The pool bar opened at 9.00 am and the food at pepe,s was available from 10.30 am for a late breakfast or snacks all day till about 6.00 pm. The food in the main restaurant was very good with lots of variety including show cooking. The hotel was refurbished in 2019 and it shows,it is very modern, clean and welcoming. The only negatives we had are :- The mini bar, this was free and restocked every two days,as we only had four satchets of Nescafe coffee this was not sufficient,ie two people 4 coffees over two days, hardly sufficient for pre breakfast coffee,s.Also the mini bar was repleneshed between 6.00 and 7.00 pm just when we were getting ready for our evening meal, not ideal. The other thing which we think is a negative is the lounge bar, this is a 24 hour All Inclusive hotel BUT at about midnight the staff start turning off all the lights, bring in the table menu,s and the table lights, anyone arriving at this hotel after say 1.00 am would think the bar was closed. Also they have a late buffet available in the bar but the " hot " food is always cold. Finally and this is a personal thing, the bacon served in the restaurant has the rind left on,surely a hotel of this standing can buy better bacon,ie rindless Can i finish this review by saying the the biggest asset of this hotel is it,s staff,we would like to mention Lolly who runs the pool bar,our favourite waiter was Manolin and also like to thank Edgar the assintant manager who was approachable and sorted out any problems. If they made this hotel adults only we would return in a heartbeat.More
