Playa del Ingles
Holidays to Playa del Ingles are all about rest, relaxation and soaking up the sun. Book a Cruise & Stay holiday here, and you can enjoy the very best of Gran Canaria in one fun and friendly package.
Big beach, big personality
Developed as a resort town in the 1960s, since then Playa del Ingles has only grown in popularity. Today it’s one of the biggest names in the Canary Islands, and – with its vast beach and excellent assortment of hotels, bars and restaurants – it’s not hard to see why. Sitting on the island’s southern coast near Maspalomas, it is perfect for exploring the natural areas in the centre of Gran Canaria.
Miles of white sand
You can’t talk about Playa del Ingles without talking about the beach. In fact, the majority of the action in this town takes place by the water. Including the beaches of San Agustin and Maspalomas, the sand here stretches out for eight whole kilometres. You’ll find refreshments kiosks, beachside bars, quiet shaded spots, and all manner of watersports opportunities. It’s the kind of beach scene that caters to everyone.
When it comes to nightlife in the Canaries, you can’t do much better than Playa del Ingles. There are two distinct areas devoted to bars and nightclubs: the Kasbah and the Yumbo, both of which cater to families in the day. The Yumbo is a popular party centre, but both areas are packed with trendy establishments. Because of the large numbers of British and Irish visitors, you’ll also find some friendly pubs, too.
When you stay in Playa del Ingles, there are plenty of daytrip-worthy attractions within easy reach. Visit the famous Maspalomas Lighthouse, head up to Palmitos Park zoo, or venture into the heart of the island to marvel at the Pico de las Nieves, Gran Canaria’s highest peak. You could even head as far as the island capital of Las Palmas, only a 40-minute drive along the eastern coast.
