Riu Palace Meloneras
This high-end hotel has a pair of pools tucked among its pristine gardens. And it’s right on the seafront, too.
The property is set among vast gardens and ocean-view terraces. Style-wise, everything's really contemporary. Bedrooms, for instance, are done out top-to-toe in cool grey.
In terms of location, it’s in a good spot with direct access to a car-free promenade and Maspalomas beach only a 12-minute walk away.

Still fabulous on the fourth visit
Again fabulous service in all areas. Can’t fault the staff! Helpful, polite and attentive without being intrusive. Cleanliness is still top class, as is the food. This time we had to use the hotel shower facilities on our day of departure as we had a late flight and couldn’t secure a late check out. This was the first time we’ve had to use this and wasn’t as good as we’ve experienced at other hotels where there is an actual room allocated. Although clean and with shower, towels and hairdryer, there was no plug point for me & my daughter to use hair straighteners/curling wand or charge our phones before flying home. And the room wasn’t air conditioned or very well ventilated so after myself & 2 children had showered it was hot, steamy & the floor was a bit slippy. Also there’s 1 shower room for men and 1 for women. This wasn’t appropriate for me who was travelling alone with a teenage boy and 12 year old daughter so we all went into the ladies. However other people then joined us which isn’t great. I had expected a room to ourselves for a set time period as with other hotels so maybe something that can be improved for next time. However this is only a minor point. Everything else about the hotel is excellent and we look forward to visiting again. Special mention to staff in the restaurant (especially the 2 older ladies in the indoor area, one with short grey hair, one with long blonde hair in ponytail) and the pool waiting staff who again were wonderful! Amazing Hotel with great Service
We stayed for 1 week 17-24 August 2019 in one of the Superior Family rooms. The holiday was booked through TUI and we flew with Norwegian from Gatwick. Holiday cost was £3749 (booked in July 2019). The reception area was beautiful and reception team were always friendly as were all the hotel staff. We stayed in one of the rooms near the pool that was closer to the sea and walking from the reception pass the pools you are treated to stunning grounds filled with palm trees. Our room was exactly as seen in the photos and clean and well maintained with a daily maid turn day service. The grounds, rooms, restaurant areas were all immaculately kept. One of the things we really liked about this hotel was that the pool area was not too busy or loud which we were concerned about going during the summer holidays. The restaurant provided varied food for breakfast and evening meal. Lunch time a separate restaurant (onsite) provides food or you can order a meal by the pool. We were Half Board (I believe most people there are) and this made sense to us as previous holidays we would never eat / drink enough for all inclusive rates to be cost effective. Plus it means you can order decent drinks and not be restricted to the cheap drinks in the all inclusive allowance. On an evening there are shows that are OK, the Flamenco dancers were amazing. Table service was excellent and we never had to wait around or try to catch a waiters eye to order a drink - this was also the case in the restaurant were there were plenty of attentive staff. There was an excellent drinks/ cocktail menu including dry martinis being made to your taste at the table - we found the drinks to be a reasonable price for a 5* hotel too. Outside of the hotel there are plenty of shops to wander around although some do get a bit repetitive but there are fashion label named shops. Also on the way to the shops there is a boulevard of restaurants in case you wish to eat there for lunch. Going a bit further there is a beach although we found this to be a little run down so spent little time there. In summary we loved it here and would even go to say it was one of our favourite holidays / hotels and all agreed would want to come back again in order to explore the island a little more next time.More
Tried hard to find fault but could not!
Omg. I am always finding fault with hotels and holiday destinations - I am impossible to please. However, this place was faultless - from the hotel, position, staff, hygiene, pools and food, it was all perfect. Every member of staff seemed so eager to assist us as guests and they all seemed genuinely happy with it. It was very peaceful yet not boring. It was like a huge, spacious, calming spa break. The maid service was so efficient and everything just worked. The food was overwhelmingly amazing with copious amounts of choice and such lovely staff. The whole place makes you feel a million dollars - luxury!More
