The smoking and poor food
We have just returned from a week at the Riu GC and sadly it wasn’t the experience we had hoped for and won’t be returning... The Good: The setting and views were lovely Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh (but thin) towels and a card that could be left on the bed requesting sheet change The self service drinks The bad: The very worst aspect of this hotel is the smoking where you can’t enjoy a meal or drink or relax by the pool due to the amount of cigarette smoke created, we even had to retreat from our balcony one evening when we were smoked out by our neighbours on both sides! More non smoking areas and non smoking rooms are a must! The food was the same each day wherever the venue and always tepid at best. Breakfasts were horrible, bacon was either burned or raw and the coffee was never fresh. The menu at Atlantico was the same for the booked meal as during the day. The starters at the Asian cuisine restaurant were hot but the mains were sloppy and just about warm. Almost every prawn on offer still had the black intestines left in! Also, good customer service matters. Not being escorted to your table for the booked restaurants then being told you were sat at the wrong table? After we didn’t move the waiter took away our candle...rubbish! As a result we ate out the remaining 4 nights out of the 7 which is not the plan when you have bought an expensive AI holiday. The cocktail menu was very limited and they refused to go off menu, couldn't even get a strawberry daiquiri!! The infinity pool was nice but you were packed in like sardines and as close to strangers as to your partner! The sun beds were really uncomfortable although there were always plenty of beds available around the main pool. Unwanted room guests (cockroaches) were hidden away in crevices. All in all a disappointing holiday, this is not a 4* hotel and not worth the £1k each we spent on it!More
A few more sitting places at the pools.Over all everything was in Top Condiation from the food, the cleaning and service from your employees, asit has been in 2 other RIU hotels we have visited in Mexico. More
Avoid this breakfast
This place advertises a full English breakfast. However there is toast but no butter or Marge and no tea available. The American breakfast advertises hash browns but we were served chips instead. No explanation or apology. Total rubbish at airport prices. Eat here st your perilMore
Second time we have visited this year and even better than the first trip! Everyone works so hard to make your holiday such a wonderful experience. A special mention to 2 lovely waitresses in the restaurants, Bennis and Elisa 🤩 they were so friendly and welcoming and even with all the guests in the hotel they both remembered our drinks orders every evening. Thank you Riu hope to see you again soon. 😊More
Great hotel and resort for all the family. This was our fourth year in a row we have been to this hotel, and had another fantastic holiday. Food is superb, staff are so helpful, animation team are great fun and entertaining. Perfect for kids. Hotel is on the sea front, close to the beach and shops. More
