Lopesan Baobab Resort
With its lagoon pools and safari-lodge styling, this luxury hotel brings a taste of Africa to Gran Canaria.
Walk around the jungle-like gardens of this African-themed hotel and you’ll find no fewer than seven pools. There are four restaurants, too – including a great African place – plus a clutch of bars offering live shows and cocktails.
The hotel is just behind Meloneras’ promenade, about 5 minutes’ walk from one of the area’s most famous landmarks – the Maspalomas lighthouse. The beach, meanwhile, is about 10 minutes on foot.

Lopesan Baobab another great stay!!
Just returned from our 2nd stay and again we were very pleased with our stay..The hotel itself is just beautiful, from the minute you walk into the hotel and see the lush beautifully kept gardens. We arrived ahead of check in time so had to wait an hour or so to get to our room...as this was a special occasion for us we did email ahead with a couple of room requests..However we were allocated a room on the road side of the hotel by mistake. We went straight to reception and this was quickly rectified with a huge apology and our room was changed to high floor pool view as requested. There was even complimentary wine in our room which was a nice touch.we had a beautiful view over the pool and gardens and our room was maintained everyday. We would have liked tea/coffee facilities in the room but other than that it was fine. The gardens are kept immaculately presented..always someone doing something. There were the usual reserving of sunbeds some that had no one on them for hours but due the size of the area it wasn't much of a concern. We didn't see any of the shows but did notice that last year's live band in the Afrika lounge wasn't there this time which was slightly disappointing for us. During evening mealtime you have to purchase your water which was only 2.20 euros but we felt it should be complimentary if you wanted it. There are a number of glass sliding doors which do have a couple of stickers on them but I managed to miss them on one day and walked smack into the glass door..I would recommend there be more warnings around the doors as I'm sure I wasn't the only one to encounter this. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend everyone to stay at Lopesan Baobab. We will definitely be returning!!!More
I've previously been to Villa del Conde, and then been going to Costa Meloneras for about 9 or 10 years.. so decided to try Baobab for first time! All the comments about the stunning architecture, the trees and tropical plants, the African 'ambience' - its all true. A truly unusual, unique and stunning experience. As a single traveller, safety is hugely important to me, and along with the other 2 Lopesan's I have stayed at, again, the Baobab feels safe and accommodating for single travellers. I quickly realised on day 2 that the main pools have a lot of children (very young in some cases) and lots of noise, inflatables and so on. All to be expected in this style of hotel. So my discovery of the 'quiet' pool was a dream, and I spent every day there after that. No inflatables allowed, lol. As there was no music, bar etc - it was less interesting to kids, so tended to be just adults at that pool. And the drinks were waiter-served so even better! So glad I realised I could get to it by walking through the hotel (rather than the hot sun) - and going through the most stunning growing bamboo corridor, and the pools of turtles. If you don't find the bamboo and the turtles you're in the wrong direction! And loads of spare beds all day! I was getting there about 11.30 every day and could have my pick of a bed in sun or shade. Bliss! I ate every meal morning and night outside on the lovely wooden decked terrace. Perfect. The staff out there were just great, recognised you after a couple of days, and they even could recall my wine choice without prompting! My only criticism food-wise (compared to Costa Meloneras) was a lot of the meat at dinner was very fatty. Lots of gristle. Unsure why, or if I was unlucky, or if Baobab buy different cuts of meat to Costa Meloneras - but there was a noticeable difference since my last visit to LCM in 2017. But I could have got more or picked different choices if I'd wanted so not a significant problem. And there is a lot of choice! I think I saw smoked salmon and Cava at every breakfast, and huge King Prawns at every dinner - how can you complain? Yes, the hotel is huge, and there will be areas that are a far distance from the main restaurant/bar areas (by the quiet pools for instance) - so if been nearer to the restaurants and reception is important - request it! It really is that simple. If you want a kettle - ask for it! I sent a request prior to my stay requesting the position of my room, and that I wanted a kettle. And on arrival the kettle was waiting, and the room was in perfect location! So really, you just need to communicate with them and tell them your preferences... In keeping with previous years, I had a full Spa day at the Collalium Spa in the LCM - they can charge to your room at Baobab - so just take your room card. I love that Spa (as other reviews will have mentioned) and once again spent my birthday in there. The menthol steam room and floatation pool are the best anywhere! All for 45 euros and an exclusive pool and jet pool area outside.. Lush. I love the Meloneras resort and love the Lopesan brand.. so Im a happy customer once again... Just need to decide which of the 3 hotels I return to next year!More
Fabulous stay, didn’t want to leave!
We loved our stay at the Lopesan Baobab, we arrived late, check in was quick and we were offered a free welcome drink (I went for the sparkling wine and it was gorgeous). We were given info about the hotel and a map, the hotel is big! Our room was lovely, we just had a standard room and it exceeded our expectations, we loved the bathroom layout, bath was huge! Balcony was a good size, we had room service one night and they set it up on the balcony with a proper table for us. We never had a problem getting a sun lounger, we tended to go out in the morning and came back to the pool in the afternoon and there was always a bed. Food was very good for all inclusive, probably one of the best all inclusive buffets I have ever been to, every night was a different theme and there was always 2 stations that they were cooking fresh meat. We didn’t try any of the restaurants that you had to pay extra for, we didn’t feel we needed to and if we wanted something different we went down to the boulevard in the town for a meal, very nice down there! Drinks are very reasonable priced, cocktails were about €6. Overall we had an amazing time and didn’t want to come home! Our only criticism would be that our room was quite far from the lobby and restaurant, we were in 2039 but it’s a big hotel and we soon found a way around and shortcuts. Not the end of the world. Would highly recommend this hotel and we both have very high standards. Enjoy :) :) More
Just back from 10 days at the Lopesan Baobab Hotel and highly recommend it, from checkin offering a glass of cava to checkout offering us a courtesy room so we could make the most of our last day. The main restaurants were buffet style but the standard of food and variety was very good. Need to note that long trousers are a requirement for men at dinner and it is enforced. The complex is huge and can be a bit confusing but with signage everywhere you soon get to grips with it. We found the staff very helpful. The African theme is very tastefully done and the interior design is excellent. The only slight negative is, although it states you can’t reserve sun beds, people still were and we saw a number of reserved beds not occupied for most of the day. I would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly go back.More
