Gran Canaria’s default setting is warm. Even in winter, daytime temperatures tend to average somewhere between 16˚C and 22˚C. Summer is in full swing between May and October. At this time of year, temperatures sit between the mid 20s and the mid 30s. As far as rain is concerned, the wettest months are January and February, but you get the odd shower in summer, particularly in the north of the island.

Health & Safety

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. It’s also a good idea to get a European Health Insurance Card – or EHIC – before leaving the UK. Though it’s not a substitute for travel insurance, it entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Spanish nationals. It won’t, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment. Passports and Visas

British citizens don’t need a visa to enter Spain but must have a valid passport. For the most up-to-date passport and visa info, visit www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements
