Holidays to Santa Ponsa take you to a lively resort in Majorca. Here, you've got a buzzy beach scene, as well as plenty to do after dark.
Santa Ponsa on the south-west coast of Majorca is a top location and a lively Cruise & Stay holiday destination to visit with family and friends – and it’s only half an hour from the bright lights of Palma.
A bustling resort
At the heart of the resort is Playa Santa Ponsa, which is always busy with visitors and locals – and with good reason, too. This beach has white, soft sand and calm waters, and is well-equipped with loungers, parasols, inflatables and sports equipment. It’s also one of the main sites of the annual Rei en Jaume festival at the start of September, which always has an impressive agenda of live music, markets, fiestas and firework displays.
Neighbouring Magaluf and Palma Nova may attract all the attention when it comes to nightlife, but that doesn't stop Santa Ponsa coming alive after dark. Since this is largely a family resort, you’ll find a wide variety of entertainment options in the early evening for children. Adults can take their pick from the extensive selection of live music venues, Irish pubs, bars and nightclubs on Santa Ponsa’s main strip.
As you might expect, a lot of the resort’s activities take full advantage of its coastal location. While on a Cruise & Stay holiday here, you have the chance to scuba dive, water-ski, kitesurf and windsurf. An organised boat trip is another way to make the most of the clear waters and hidden coves of the Calvià district. On dry land, swing through the resort’s beautiful pine forest at the Jungle Parc outdoor theme park. Or, join a bike or hiking tour to discover more of Santa Ponsa and the surrounding area.
Palma, a city to explore
Majorca’s capital, Palma, is just a 30-minute drive from Santa Ponsa and is packed with interesting sites. The Cathedral of Majorca, is a fine example of Gothic architecture and the Es Baluard Museum features works from more of Spain’s most celebrated artists. For some serious shopping, head to the boutiques and designer stores around Plaça Mayor. Finish the day with a spot of people watching while you tuck into tapas at Santa Catalina market.
