Hotel Platja d'Or
Combine an adults-only hotel with a beachside location and you’ve got a winning formula.
Just across a quiet road is the beach – miles of golden sand sandwiched between pine trees and shallow water. You’re a few minutes’ walk from the shops and bars of Playa de Muro, and about 20 from Alcudia.
This hotel holds a trump card – it’s adults-only, and we don't accept bookings for under 16s, so there’s a relaxed feel. It comes with a good-sized pool, a buffet restaurant and a bar.

Hotel better than expected - we expected a bog standard 3* but we thought food choice and quality of food was higher than some 4* hotels we have been too. Staff all friendly. Clean pool area. Good location on back of gorgeous beach! The outsourced entertainment was excellent- the animation team in hotel got better as week went on but they were both really quiet and less enthusiastic then what you would expect from an animation team. Tui excursions were good - staff helpful. Only one we didn’t rate was the Robinson Catamaran simply because it wasn’t as advertised and quite expensive for what it was so wouldn’t do again if we came back.More
Following reading the reviews prior to our stay I wasn’t expecting to have such a good holiday, don’t get me wrong as a 21 year old at first the tutts and dirty looks we’re annoying but you have to look past that. The reviews were correct the majority of people at hotel are elderly and to be honest if the odd one is nice to you it’s a shock, but you have to just make sure you smile and definitely bomb to pool. To be honest the hotel is a lot nicer than I expected, I didn’t think it was our drop off on the transfer. The food was really nice and not repetitive at all, different theme each night including Chinese and Mexican, oh and a chocolate fountain a few nights! Between meal times you can have a sandwich and/or crisps from the bar which was actually really nice. The beach is through a walkway opposite the hotel and is absolutely stunning, sun loungers are £6.50 a day and are more than likely taken by 10AM, most days we plonked our selves on sand anyway. Only had a few pool days but the entertainment was great in the day we took part in a darts tournament, ping pong and jenga, there was a lot more being offered. You have to take your own beach towels as they’re not provided or available for hire. They are available to buy from a looky looky man on beach though. The night entertainment was also good we loved the karaoke, a right laugh! We did the catamaran excursion which was fab, buses are close with not a long journey to shops and bars either way. The drinks and bar staff were lovely, there were a lot of different seating areas and comfy chairs including separate ones for smokers and none smokers. Overall a fab holidayMore
Just returned from 11 nights at this hotel. The food was very good all food was served hot and not repetitive. Had curry night, Mexican night, roast beef etc. Entertainment was very good with external acts most nights. Maids worked very hard here all day. Room was spotlessly cleanMore
Spring 2 week chill out
First visited this hotel in 1993 when it was a gold hotel, it was halfboard and good. Sadly this year the food has gone downhill badly, reconstructed slop they called bacon or ham, burnt or undercooked food . All inclusive and we arrive back at the hotel after a day out not having the lunch on offer, we asked for a small platter of crisps to nibble with our drinks by the pool, “oh no , you can’t have crisps until 8pm “ what a joke ! . The location is perfect, 100 meters from the beach. Bar staff work hard and are fantastic guy’s, entertainment is poor, years ago professional acts were regularly on. We will go back to gold hotels which has edible food and not slop.More
The good. Great location being very close to the beach. Some areas of the hotel clearly new or refurbished. The pools and the building that contained the entertainment. Restaurant albeit quite crowded coped well. As a vegetarian I was well catered for. Not so good; communal toilets did not appear to have been cleaned as often as they should considering the number of people using them. Rooms basic and in need of updating. TUI maintains this is a 4 star hotel but the Hotel itself says its a 3 star. Therefore it caught us by surprise that there were no larger towels in our room or tea and coffee making facilities. This is NOT the hotels fault. We were out everday most days and our stay was for only four days as part of a cruise package. Therefore I cannot personally comment on the standard of entertainment. The nightly disco at 22.00hrs would have been interesting as hotel was mainly full of people 60+. I am 59 yrs. There were many times an orderly queue formed at the bar. What I dont undertand was the fact all beer was served in half pint glasses and spirits in generous measures BUT as a group of 6, if two of our group went to the bar they were only allowed two drinks each meaning a trip back to join the back of the queue. WHY, I have no idea. Did the management want all 6 of us to join the already long queue. We are not binge drinkers and were inclusive. TUI reps asked why and when they could be asked to to put their phones down their response made little sense. Would we visit this hotel again. Certainly as a base to visit elsewhere.More
