Another great Riu Hotel
On our last full day before checking out tomorrow (16th Jan) after 2 terrific weeks at this great hotel. We are in Room 609 with a magnificent panoramic sea view, the best view we have ever had in a Spanish hotel. Having stayed in other Riu hotels we knew what to expect and the reality did not disappoint. Location Situated midway between the centres of Torremolinos and Benalmadena about 300 yards from the Marina, it is ideally situated for lengthy walks along the Paseo where you will find lots of bars and restaurants as well as a lovely beach. Transport links are good with a major bus route about 5 mins walk away with buses to the centre of Torremolinos, Mijas, Benalmadina, Malaga etc. Room Our room 609 is on the 6th floor of the main block with uninterrupted sea views over the pool and paseo. The room is not large but more than adequate with a large bathroom with excellent walk-in shower and plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. There is a small balcony with 2 chairs and a small table, which receives daytime sun. It can be a little scary until you get used to it. Cleanliness The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms are cleaned to perfection everyday. Food Fairly typical 4 star buffet style with good choice, especially the salads. Main courses as usual can be a bit repetitive but still plenty of choice for everyone. Staff This is what makes this hotel stand out from other Riu hotels we have been to. All the staff are smiling, helpful and efficient, no complaints at all on this score. Entertainment This is about the only thing we didn’t think was quite up to the standard of other hotels we have stayed in, although Ricky Lavazza is always good and the acrobats were also good. Generally entertainment at Riu could do with some improvement. General As with other Riu hotels you have to pay approx €15 per week for the safe, which is a little mean, bath towels are too small and thin and a robe and slippers would be a nice addition. None of these things are important enough to stop me giving the hotel a full 5 stars. Would we return? Yes definitely and the sooner the better! I’d love to have the same room again please!More
Excellent hotel, very clean, warm and comfortable. Direct access to the promenade and beach from rear gate. Code for gate for residents only. Less than 10 minute walk to Cariheula area or the marina. Great choice of tv channels on large bedroom flatscreen tv. BBC1 BBC2 ITV and C4. 4 movie channels also in Spanish but can be changed back tto the origonal english language they were filmed in using the remote control.More

Wonderful Stay at Riu
Had a 10 night stay with my wife over Christmas and the New Year at this wonderful hotel. Located on the promenade about a 5 minute walk from Benalmadena and about 15/20 minutes from Torremolines there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants close by. The hotel itself has an excellent staff, all friendly and welcoming, excellent food both in quality and quantity, spotlessly clean throughout and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.Rooms are adequate in size and beds very comfortable. It is an adults only hotel. Hard to find anything amiss in this hotel and will go back.More

FAB NEW YEAR
2nd visit to this hotel, last year was for Christmas but we chose this year for NYE and I think we made the right decision, We are RIU members and often frequent a RIU Hotel. Check in drink virtually as we arrived, room was UPGRADED to a fabulous suite - major thank you! New Year’s Eve was great, fab food, drink, numerous yummy desserts. Entertainment was NOT the best we have experienced for such a big occasion but everybody mainly got up and danced and it went on until about 2am with two midnight songs - first at Spanish midnight in Spanish and the second 1am for theUK one. Also, at midnight doughnuts, hot chocolate and soup was available. ‘The food the whole 5 days we were there was just plentiful and excellent and ALL STAFF worked their socks off and were always helpful and cheerful. Dining staff/chefs/waiters never stopped clearing tables, serving and cooking fresh food. We had CARMEN as our Suite Domestic, fabulously clean and fresh towels etc-thank you. All in all another 5 days, like last year, with no complaints. Only niggle - most of the entertainment was very low key compared to a lot of other hotels within the area that we have been to or visited in the evenings, other residents commented about this to when we got talking.More
