Relaxing break at lovely RIU hotel
Stayed at this hotel from 28 August until 4 September. Lovely adult only hotel right next to fantastic sandy beach. Room in the Annex was large and bathroom had a huge walk-in shower. My sister and husband stayed in main part of hotel and rooms were slightly smaller with shower over bath. Maid service everyday was excellent and staff in reception and bar /restaurant attentive and helpful. Quality of food at buffet restaurant was very good with many dishes freshly cooked. Booked into the OLE a la carte restaurant which was a very intimate and relaxing venue. A very relaxing week and will make this hotel a must for a return visit next year.More
very good quality hotel
Could have been 5 stars but for the lack of daytime activities. not even a little music by the pool. The usual morons putting towels down on sunbeds at 7am then not using them until 5pm! - like most hotels they "forbid" this but never police it. Being picky the food was a bit same-ish most days. Otherwise the hotel is spotless, modern and has extremely spacious and comfortable rooms. It's also in a very flat part of the costa, close to Benalmadena and has extremely good facilities for (the many) disabled guests using the facilities.More
Another great Riu hotel
Arrived as a group of four. We had emailed in advance asking for rooms together either on the second or third floor (one of the party is scared of heights) and with afternoon sun. Both rooms were on the second floor, only one had afternoon sun and the rooms were not adjacent and only one was ready !! However by the next day they had offered a room two doors along and on the sunny side. From then on we had no faults, pleasant staff all round the hotel. Plenty of sun beds, very helpful pool attendant/lifesaver. Food plentiful and good quality, occasionally had difficulty getting a table for four but it was soon resolved. Rooms a good size, cleaned daily, good showers (would have liked a little stool for the shower) super beds. Handy fridge in the room. Two suggestions I would like to make and that would be kettle with tea coffee facilities and that there should be no charge for safes. I have been in similar 4* hotels where both these facilities are free and visitors really appreciate this. More
Stayed at this hotel 14th until 28th August. Had an early flight and arrived at hotel about 10.30 am. Room not ready but were given a nice greeting with a drink. Got in room about 2.30 pm, we were given room 229. We found the room to be really lovely, spotlessly clean with a nice walk in shower, ample wardrobe space, two single beds put together, fridge but no tea and coffee facilities. We had to pay for a safe but it does tell you that on the website. We had a nice view of the pool and quite a good sea view so we were really pleased. The pool area is nice and tidy with ample sunbeds, yes there are some sad people that put towels on sunbeds early morning as they have to have their favourite spot but this happens in most hotels. There are a lot of sunbeds in an area under shade and there are spare sunbeds behind the pool if you can't find one. Warning though, the sunbeds are so uncomfortable and need some cushions, be very careful or you will return home with a bad back. Also there is so much smoking going on around the pool area and as I have lung problems was not good for me inhaling all the cigarette smoke. The evening entertainment was good although again the area is full of smokers. Due to this I had to stop watching it and go elsewhere in the evenings which was such a shame. The restaurant well what can I say. The evening food is good and the sweets are especially nice. Breakfast is excellent, no problems with the food. There is an outside area and the restaurant itself is set out nicely. My only gripe and the reason I have not given the 5 points is that it is like going into Butlins. There is no-one on the door to see you in and therefore some people are rushing in to pile their plates with food and then go looking for a table. There is a hand sanitiser at the door of the restaurant but very few use it and after having following a lady from the toilet who just walked out without any hand wash and then went into the restaurant without using the sanitiser I got a bit concerned. Apparently they have just lapsed the no shorts for men saga but in my opinion this has spoilt the ambience of the hotel restaurant. Better to say no shorts at all for dinner. It is not about been snobby but about having something different on your holiday from what you have at home. It was supposed to be dressy shorts but I can assure you it wasn't and once again there was no-one on the door to check. Area outside the hotel has lots bars and shops along a lovely prom and a short walk is the lovely harbour of Benalmadena. All in all we had a lovely holiday and I have to say this hotel has potential to be a 5 star hotel. It is such a shame that they may not reach this because of the few things I have mentioned. The staff at this hotel work really hard and they are all so very friendly. This is the best hotel we have stayed at in Spain. Would we return? We would but not until the smoking issue is dealt with and the restaurant is a bit more organised.More
The hotel is fabulous and a great selection of food at mealtimes you cannot fail to get something you like. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the cleanliness of the rooms and public areas second to none. It is ideally situated within a 5 minute walk of Benalmadena marina and 15 minutes to Torremolinos in opposite direction. The only small criticism is the evening entertainment that consists of various singers accompanying themselves on organ and aimed at the elderly, most disappointing and no variation! However, lots of bars and entertainment within a short walk of the hotel. Would I recommend hotel, definitely.More
