Dated decor but still good fun
The hotel is somewhat dated and has not seen any re-furbishment for at least the last 8-9 years based on previous pictures on here, it desperately needs bringing up the the same standard as other holiday villages. In other holiday villages we have stayed at have been exclusive, this place wasn’t, it is also called “holiday world” which I am assuming is the Spanish version of holiday villages, hence the hotel was over run with Spanish families. Rooms are dated but very spacious and clean and the cleaners came daily and made beds and left clean towels which was great. Don’t be fooled into thinking there is an on-site water park because it’s across a 2 spiral bridge across 4 lanes of road, there are no slides and it is open to the general public too. Sun beds around the pool were an absolute joke, the hotel need to get a grip of this and quick because this may stop us from coming back, to be able to get a sun bed next to the pool you would need to put your towels out before 6am, there was numerous occasions where I would go down at 7am and they were all taken ???? Hundreds of beds already with towels on, absolutely crazy !!! The sun beds need upgrading too as there was no height adjusters on any of them so they were permanently reclined which is annoying, especially if you have kids in the pool and want to watch them. The food was beyond basic so don’t expect anything with any flavour here, everything was “beige” and unseasoned, lots of it and organised and staffed really well but it was just basic buffet food and probably the worst of the 4 holiday villages we have done. The Italian restaurant was nice and probably the best meal we had, the burger restaurant was shockingly bad, we walked out because it was that bad !! Some outstanding reps here with Luke and Ellie being the stand out reps, great characters who took time to chat to us and help with any concerns we had . Aaron on the other hand seems to have forgotten that it is a child friendly hotel And constant sexual innuendos were inappropriate and not professional All in all the kids had a great timeMore
Where to start?? Hotel - HV Costa is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Gorgeous interior nice quiet location which we love. The staff from reception-domestic-bar/restaurant all do a fabulous job and work tirelessly to keep all areas clean and tidy. Rooms - very spacious we are a family of 5 and never felt cramped at all we had an extra camp bed put in our room which our little boy slept on and our girls shared the double bed. Never used the kitchen so can’t comment. Bathroom is big with 2 showers and a bath plus double sinks handy when everyone trying to get ready together for evening meal. Food - never once did we go hungry the food was lovely usual items like nuggets chips jacket potatoes salads etc for lunch and different themed nights in the main restaurant for evening meal. Chinese theme was our favourite I’m going to miss those spring rolls and chicken curry!! Kids loved the chocolate fountain and unlimited ice creams throughout the day. Never once did we have a cold meal or anything that was undercooked ignore all those other reviews there is just no pleasing some people! Pools/beach club - we went to beach club once for VIP it was a brilliant day and we enjoyed it but to be honest we never left poolside the other 13 days as we preferred it at hotel side mainly due to the entertainment team which I will come to soon! Pool can be deceiving it does get deep very quickly towards the middle but shallow the whole way around the edges the lifeguards are amazing we seen a few kids pulled out during our stay and thankfully we only had one code brown in 2 weeks!!! HV Purple Army - oh my you guys are amazing!!! I don’t know where to start you have all made our holiday so so special and I really hope we meet again next year!! From John the manager right down each and everyone of you do an outstanding job there is too many of the army to name everyone so I will mention a few. Emily & Veronica from swim academy your style of teaching and smiles around the pool when you met our girls made them feel special and you really made their time here, they learnt so much from you both so a massive thank you from us!! Aron, Paige, Lewis, Callum & Charlie the entertainment team and entertain is what you did you truly are amazing at your jobs getting everyone involved dancing singing and performing are top class we loved the Aron & Paige comedy duo you had us crying with laughter every day and night! Live&loud and the adult game shows some of our favourite moments here!!! To Jessie, Martha & Taylor in kids club as our wee boy told you himself he loves you, we felt comfortable with him in kids clubs in your safe and capable hands you all made the effort to speak 2 him around the hotel even getting into the pool to play with him especially Jessie you have made his time here so special and given him memories to last a lifetime. John and his rep team Louise, Luke and El nothing was too much trouble your advice and guidance over a few medical issues during our stay were very welcome and thank you for the advice also a special mention to rep Georgie wow your knowledge on Gibraltar is unreal your humour and class top notch in equal measures we love our trip to gib but wouldn’t have been the same without you and John there our 3 kids loved Georgie and stuck by her side all day including them in everything and then going out of your way to dance with them at live and loud meant a lot to us all!!! A MASSIVE thanks to the purple army you all made our stay an unforgettable one and I hope the First Choice gods read this and send you all the Lanza next year we would all love to meet you again at HV Lanza 2020More
Not for under 3’s
Just got back from a week here as grandparents with daughter,son-in-law and granddaughter. Firstly the hotel it self is very clean, good size rooms with all you need, do take mugs if you like a cuppa in your room as we only had espresso cups in both of ours and had to buy mugs a t fiver each.Tv for kids in the room does CBBC our granddaughter used it. Pool is always very full as you would expect, even the beach club was very busy, if you did not have towels by the pool by seven you would struggle to get a sun bed. Reps are friendly staff are very polite not like some of the guests, smoking round the pool is an issue for me. Food was at best cold to mildly warm, fair amount of choice if you don’t mind running the gauntlet of people and kids with no manners, many small kids left to help them selves with hands in food etc. All of us had stomach issues while away. Felt a bit like a school canteen but with no control over the people using it. We did both other restaurants which were marginally better. If your child is under there unless you pay there is nothing for them todo. Even soft play was charged unless you went in at 6.45 to7.45, as most small children eat early this meant you could not use it. Trampoline and small cars are also charged. All in all a mistake for us, we would not go again.More

Great Family Holiday
We have just arrived home from a week in the Holiday Village and we had an amazing time! Travelled as a family (2adults and 1child) The room is massive, including the bathroom (which has 2 showers!) and a huge balcony. It was cleaned everyday with fresh bedlinen and towels and was spotlessly clean our enire trip. Beds aren't particularly comfortable but were spacious. Pool area is really well maintained and clean with plenty of lifeguards. You do need to be out super early to bag a sun lounger with a parasol. That said we always saw several free sunbeds throughout the day, so if you're not fussed about having a parasol then you'll always find somewhere to sit/lie down. Food was plentiful and hot - there was always the standard food that you would expect to find (burgers and chips etc) but there was always loads of choice at breakfast and dinner. You would have to be super fussy to not find anything you'd like to eat. Snack bars were always well stocked. Reps - these guys are amazing! they work non stop to make sure everyone is happy. Our daughter really enjoyed the kids clubs and we all loved the evening entertainment. The entertainment reps are fab! I had read some of the reviews on here prior to our holiday - DO NOT believe everything you read! it's a great hotel, great atmosphere and we had a perfect family holiday!More
