Best place ever!!!
Where do I start with this resort? It is amazing!!! Food is so delicious and so many dining options, the rooms are beautiful and clean, and the staff is amazing and kind!! The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous and there is so much to do you will never be bored. Shout out to shareese from PR (I hope I spelt that correctly!) and Simone the air Canada rep at the hotel. And the bartenders at the adult pool and lobby bar! All the staff was so sweet and welcoming and I felt like I was at home!! I can go on and on about this amazing place but I just absolutely loved the experience here and I will be returning 10000% I miss it already!! A tip if you go is to bring a snorkel mask because they have these gorgeous tropical fish on the beach and it’s really breathtaking More
Some 5 star aspects but overrated
Wife and I just came back from our Honeymoon. We were in building 26 which did have a really nice view of the pool and the ocean. When we arrived in the lobby we must say we were really impressed by the appearance. (Side note we have previously stayed at the Grand Bahia next door) We were introduced to BRIAN one of the butlers who went above and beyond for anything we needed. Truly great to meet such a nice gentleman and this resort is lucky to have staff like Brian. As far as the lobby and the lobby bar go, it is one of the few 5* areas of the hotel. The lobby bar staff are good and it is the only bar in the hotel where you can get top shelf liquor (Grey Goose, Hennessy, Black Label, Chivas, etc). BIG shoutout to CLIVE who is one of the best staff this hotel employs. Clive is the go-to guy at the lobby bar. We loved chilling in and around the lobby bar area throughout our stay. There is sometimes a good pianist that plays and a tv that shows sports. The terrace is really nice and airy and a good place to have a smoke. The room also had a 5* appeal at first although we found all the curtains and sheets to be disgusting and everytime we requested new sheets we found the sheets to still be dirty. Sometimes the towels were dirty too so we were lucky we brought an extra towel each. TV in the room a bit small but who really watches TV on vacation. Mini bar was stocked everyday but we had some issues one night with the gentleman who waited at the door for a tip. We found a lot of workers expected tips (we tipped over $200 during our week). Food is bang average here but we tended to eat anything we found in the Jamaican corner at the Jazmin buffet which we found to be our favorite restaurant. We did the Don Pablo restaurant and the Mikado live cooking restaurant, both of which we found to be really good. On our last night though we did Picasso and we highly recommend you DON'T go here as they didn't have some menu items and they were unwillingly to cook items to our liking (for instance beef came rare and we asked if it could come slightly medium well and they stated they cannot change; also was told the tuna bruschetta is raw tuna which they don't list in the menu). Just do yourself a favour and go to the Jazmin buffet for dinners. We tried as many nights as we could to get served by EDWARD. This resort needs to find a higher position for Edward who clearly is client focused and very professional. As for breakfast though, we suffered to find anything good to eat except for the hashbrowns and omelettes (although wait times sucked for this). This resort is filled with a bunch of middle aged adults (we found a lot of empty nesters btw) who act like a bunch of 19 year olds. The pool was often loud and too much of a party. We had some bad interactions with really drunk 50+ year olds. We never went to the pool until our last day because it was raining as it never seemed like a good place to relax. As for the beach at this resort, it really sucks!!! We had to mission as many days as we could to go to the Grand Bahia side which is truly beautiful and a joy to swim in. We were lucky enough to catch the golf carts a couple of times to drive us over. Also we ate at PISCES beach restaurant at the Grand Bahia for lunch every day! Literally made sure to go there every day as the Stew chicken, Stew pork, Callaloo, Curry Chicken, Jerk Chicken, etc here is amazing. Service here was great compared to the Luxury side. It rained a lot when we were there so there was hardly any entertainment at this resort since a lot of it is outdoor dependent. We looked forward to the beach parties but never got one. There was 0 communication about entertainment as we never found things on the schedule such as the pink champagne party in the lobby. Also sucked because staying at the Luxury means a lot more walking. All the restaurants are closer to the Grand Bahia side and the village is in the Grand Bahia side (which also sucked i.e. the nightclub, casino/sports bar). The worst part was how slippery the ENTIRE resort is. Considering the amount of rain it gets they should have runners on steps and in hallways. We saw a lady slip off her wheelchair and crack her head and she had to be rushed in an ambulance. We then saw a man slip and fall by the pool really bad. On my last day I wasn't feeling well so I took a day nap and then we got up to go early something. As many of the elevators don't work (the one closest to our room never worked while there) we had to take the steps. Low and behold I slipped and fell so hard down the stairs and a maid had to run over to check if I was okay. I got up embarrassed but in a lot of pain and had to get x-rays the next day at home. It was the worst fall I've ever had I am in so much pain. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone since the Grand Bahia side is so much better (besides the kids) but you find yourself there every day for the beach, food, and entertainment. Saves you from risking your life walking on slippery tiles.More
We had an awesome time at the Luxury Bahia Principe Runaway Bay and were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a oceanfront corner suite. Our butler Khadijah took care of us every day and couldn’t have asked for better service! A big shout out to the bartenders at the main pool bar, especially Carlyle, Raymond and Latoya!! Can’t wait to return! Julie and BrianMore

Warm, polite and friendly staff who cater to your needs and answer any questions you may have. Special shout out to Tameika the very courteous butler who made us feel welcomed and made sure we were well taken care of.More

Loved the hotel, staff, views, pools, food and well just about everything! So much so we booked to go back next year. Only issue was they gave us a Queen bed instead of 2 seperate beds, lets hope that gets sorted next timeMore
