7 couples went with us.. June was a humid time to go. AC in the room wouldn’t work. We had to switch rooms after the first night and after the 3am maintenance call to flush our AC system. So don’t unpack until you test the AC and you can’t switch rooms until 5pm the next evening. We requested a 3rd room key to leave in the power/AC slot so that our room would be cool when we return med in the evening only to find that the cleaning staff will take your key out killing all power to your room. Front desk will ask you to leave a note saying “Please Don’t Remove Key” and place it near the power slot. It didn’t help. Also we had to ask for wash rags you only get 2 towels and 1 hand towel. Restaurants were ok , seemed to the same food but presented in a different but similar way. Make reservations as soon as you check-in. Also the AC in every restaurant seemed to be off or barley on, especially the Japanese Hibachi thou the food was good. Max seating is 8 people per table so we had to split the group of 14 which I fully understand. Buffets close 10:30am-12pm. The only way to eat during that time is room service. Karaoke bar was small and smelled of strong bleach. Disco was dark, floor sticky, and also smelled of heavy bleach. Opens around 11:30pm. Casino has the best AC but will require you to have a photo ID if you want to gamble. Casino only has video blackjack and slot machines no real card games or roulette. Pools were ok, open at 10am some of the tiles are falling off and the water was cloudy in some areas. If you swim up to the bar watch out for the hidden underwater wall many of our friends hit their toes and knees. Great place to people watch. Beach was ok, multiple locals trying to sell weed, necklaces, carvings, etc... every 50 yards so be ready to ignore them or plan on spending 5-10mins with each one. Went snorkeling used the Sport Aquatics there on the resort. Check the wind before you book the trip, it was so ruff that we only went to one of the two reefs. We asked to go straight to the Sharkies restaurant which was part of the trip and planned to taxi it back to the resort. Snorkel boat was dated and only 1 engine worked. Staff- Front desk was nice and really wanted to correct our groups AC issues of the 7 couples that went on this trip only 3 of the AC(s) worked and had to change rooms. Waitstaff seemed to be annoyed from time to time it was hit or miss. Bring Large insulated cup with lid. Water shoes if you plan to go to (Dunn’s river falls). Sunscreen/Aloe it’s $18 on the resort. -Overall- It was an ok resort nothing really stuck out not even the nightly entertainment. Our group of 7 couples got to spend time together and make some memories but I don’t think this resort is using its full potential. I hope this helps and have a great trip. More
Friends trip to Jamaica
From our arrival to leave time our stay was impeccable! Every worker was very attentive and friendly. The entertainment crew kept things exciting, Supersonic, Sandy, Tiffany, and Speedo Man had everyone involved and it was fun to participate in their activities! The DJs by the pool were a good time too! Shout out to Raymond and Deyron for their awesome bartending at the swim up bar. The Pool days were the best because of them! From the moment we walked on the beach our breath was taken away from the clean white sand to the perfect clear turquoise water. It was safe to say we did not want to leave! Every meal was beyond delicious, and the service in the restaurants was fantastic. We came as a group of friends looking for a great time and it was delivered. Such an amazing resort from top to bottom!More
4 out of 5
Great hotel and the food is pretty good! Lots of restaurant choices. They also have a Brazilian Churrascaria included! However, restaurant temprerature was hot (i.e.: they keep the doors open at the buffet, a/c was weak at the Italian restaurant and Asian restaurant). Plus, the gym needs to be updated with new equipment machines. And also, all the emloyees and security guard wear long pants and long shirts (old school mentality-its year 2019, every modern hotel in the U.S. and P.R. have their employees wear shorts and confortable attire and looks professional at the same time). We felt bad for the employees because the weather is hot and they look sad. Other than that, we had fun and love the hotel and top quality services!More
My partner and I stayed here for 2 weeks in June and had the most amazing holiday. The hotel was beautiful, everything very clean. The room we had was beautiful too, we had a deluxe junior room with sea view and whirlpool bath. The staff were super friendly and couldn’t do enough for you, bar staff walked around the pool area taking drinks orders and bringing them back to you. There are 2 pool areas in the luxury side, one was very lively and full of entertainment whilst the other side was a more chilled vibe, so there’s something for everyone. The only thing I can mention in a bad way is the tiles in the pool were coming off in different areas, however there was maintenance staff working on fixing that every day (with no interruptions). The a la carte restaurants were lovely, we had reservations in one nearly every night. We could’ve easily spent another week there and wanted to be back there as soon as we got home.More
Went to the Luxury Bahia Principe Runaway Bay June 15 to 20th. I won’t go into details since they all have been reported in other reports. Transport was about a 1 hour 10 minutes give or take. We had no issues with checking in, room was not ready but my daughter was there already and we just changed and went to the pool. Pool is large and never seemed crowded and yes tiles are missing no big deal. They repair them daily but are losing the battle. No big deal didn’t bother me. If they close the pool to do complete repair, I’m sure people would have an issue with that. There is loud music and lively entertainment but a lot of fun in my opinion. We wen with 12 people ages 29 through 67, we all had fun. Entertainment people are awesome especially Supersonic who we had fun with. There is a quiet pool where you could go if you didn’t want the noise or loud music, Beach is little rocky but there are places where it is not and the water is flat and sand is like powder. I like it like that since I’m from the jersey shore area and can have waves at any time. We were in room 27404 ‘building 27 4th fl. Room 404 and had an awesome view see pic of our view. Thought the food was above average for all-inclusive. Asian Takara Restaurant - Very good Garden Grill Restaurant – also very good Rodizio Restaurant Las Olas Brazilian Steakhouse Very good if you love all types of meat served tables Jasmine buffet was very good no complaints especially the Asian night was excellent If you like to have fun this is the place to go if you want quiet you probably want to go elsewhere or stay at the quiet pool and still enjoy all the other facilities. Would I go back ‘in a heartbeat ‘. I’m not sure how some people really bash the resort I don’t see it. Did we have an issue, small but was dealt with right away. Most staff were very friendly and I had no issues. Few shutouts. Supersonic (entertainment), Jehneil and six pack (pool bar)More
