Best Beach in Jamaica
My wife & I have been to Swept Away several times. Love the beach, food, & the tennis! Normally here in Winter but came in May. This is our favorite place to truly unwind and relax! The resort offers plenty to do each day or you can just do nothing! The shuttle to the resort is a bit long but well worth the trip. However, for a few $$$$ you can jump on a charter that lands within a mile of the resort. Either way, Swept Away is one of the best All Inclusive Resorts in the Caribbean for a couple to get away!More
Not enough bang for the buck
I did a lot of researching before choosing CSA, after reading mixed reviews we decided on this resort. Pros: the beach is awesome, the water is great, nice and calm, and lots of beach front compared to some of the other resorts. No sea grass in the water in front of the resort. Very clean resort! The rooms were well cleaned daily, as well as the grounds. TONS of activities to do. If you are someone that always needs something to do, there are lots of options. Really appreciated the included boat tours, snorkelling, catamaran cruise etc. Thought that was a great touch! The beach activities staff were great. The snorkelling was a lot of fun! I would definitely recommend going. They take you not too far from the resort, and you're able to see lots of sea life! The coffee was delicious and was available at all times of the day, which was appreciated! Bed was comfortable, and air conditioner worked well. Also a fan in the room, and on the veranda. Water and ice filled up in the room daily. Continental breakfast in room was a nice touch. Great to start off the morning like that. Cons: a lot of the staff were not welcoming, instead made us feel like we were imposing on their day. On more than occasion, the host at the restaurant did not even greet us with a hello, just asked for "room number". For breakfast one morning at Patois, we were seated and then not even served water for over 10 minutes, while we watched the majority of the staff standing around talking. We ended up getting up and going to the buffet. At the grill we were standing and waiting for the patty we ordered and the staff complained in patois that we were standing and waiting. Little did they know my husband's family is Jamaican and he understands Patois. Although there were a few shining stars in the staff, the majority of them were very poor. In my opinion maybe they were poorly managed, seems like no one was making sure staff were doing their jobs. The food was pretty mediocre. It wasn't bad, just not memorable. The pools were FREEZING cold. Couldn't stay in them. There is a swim up bar, but its separate from the pool, which is weird. The pools are quite small as well. Stayed in an Oceanview Veranda room - the veranda could use some updating, but was nice to have. Furniture in room also needs to be updated, not enough outlets, and not enough storage. Also our room was close to the Patois restaurant and was SO LOUD! Shower leaks water all over the bathroom floor. An annoying part of the Negril beach is the beach vendors. This isn't the resorts fault - but just something to be aware of. It gets old really fast. The vendors will leave you alone if you say no thanks, but there is a steady stream of them all day long. They are also very loud. Overall, we decided we probably would not return. We felt for the price we paid, we were too often disappointed. Honestly, the poor attitude of a lot of the staff affected our vacation. Maybe we are too used to Mexico where you get an "hola!" from any staff member you pass by. The "no-tipping" policy is nice, but I think it results in poor quality of service.More
Still our Favorite
Enjoyed the hospitality, entertainment, and service. Quality and selection of food at the buffet has declined especially lunch. The casino isnot functioning at all. Most of the slot machines are in total disrepair, no roulette and ones that do work do not PAy. THEY SHOULD JUST CLOSE IT DOWN. More
Best vacation ever
Absolutely loved the resort. The staff was so nice and wanted to make sure you had everything yo needed. Was one of the best vacations we have had. Only complaint would be the turndown maid always locked the back door deadbolt which was the door we always used but, Key doesn't work on deadbolt so it locked us out everytime.More
30th Wedding Anniversary
The staff was awesome, polite and friendly. This was our first vacation at Couples Swept Away and we will return. The rooms were perfect size, we had a third floor veranda with ocean views. The variety of restaurants were great. From formal dining at Feathers to casual dining at Cabana grill all types of food was available. The amount of activities included at the resort kept us busy everyday. The piano bar was fun from karaoke to trivia and the steel drum band playing "Sweet Caroline" was amazing. The bonfire with a guitar playing in the background was relaxing. A special recognition to the following staff...Colleen, swim up pool bar, was amazing and served awesome drinks and we looked forward to having fun with her everyday, Damian, part of recreational water staff, took us out on the Hobey Cat sailboat for a half an hour. It was very cool and relaxing. Kimmodi, aka Emoji, part of entertainment staff, every time we saw her she referred to us by our first names, very impressive, Julian, the glass bottom captain was very informative and entertaining and Denzel, aka Mr. Cool, part of entertainment staff, also remembered our names every day. I look forward to beating him in cornhole next time. Best vacation ever and look forward to returning to Couples Swept Away!!! More
