The good and the bad
Stayed at this resort from June 23 to June 30. It was a nice relaxing week; however, some things definitely need to improve. We arrived at around 12. Check-in was actually slow even though it wasn’t busy. There’s only 2 computers and 2 person working at the reception. They kept our luggage in a locked room until our room was ready, so we were able to enjoy the beach. We got out room at 3PM. I was surprised to see that they gave us an actual key and not a card for the room. We also had to pay 2$/day to use the safe… HOTEL The rooms are really clean and modern. You can see that the resort hasn’t been opened for that long. Every single room offers ocean view, which was amazing. The room was big enough and the AC was working perfectly. The only problem was the shower. Every time we would take our shower, a ton of water would get out of it and get on the floor. We had to put 2 towels near the shower door so that our bathroom wouldn’t be covered in water. This is a small resort. Only 140ish rooms and everything is in the same building. It is located 5 minutes from the airport so it is in the city and near the Hip Strip. Because of the configuration of the hotel, it could be very noisy. If there’s music in the lobby, you can hear it in your room, even if you are on the 5th floor. Since it is near the city, we could also hear a lot of honking from the street and one night we even heard loud music from the club across the street. I prefer a resort that is further away from the city and quieter. BEACH The beach was nice but small. If you are the kind of person that likes to take long walks on the beach, you won’t be able to do that there. The hotel next door, the Decameron Montego Bay, doesn’t even have a beach and on the other side there is absolutely nothing to see. We always had chairs and didn’t need to wake up extremely early to reserve them. However, the hotel was not busy, so that might be why. The beach also offers free aquatic sports. ENTERTAINMENT Personally, I don’t think the entertainment was that good. I was getting bored easily at night. Every night, there’s a band playing music, but it gets redundant. I didn’t find the shows incredible either. According to me, this is not the kind of resort you want to go to if you are looking to party. However, I just wanted a relaxing week, so I didn’t care much about the fact that entertainment wasn’t the best. SERVICE People working at this resort are extremely nice. Most of them are always smiling and offer a good service. Special shout out to Shamala at the coffee bar. She was simply amazing. Waiters/waitresses at the buffet offered the best service. I only got bad service at the bar once. We were only 2 people waiting and it took forever to get my drink. The bartenders were more interested in having a conversation between themselves than making our drinks. The service at the a-la-carte restaurant was just bad. Even though the restaurant was almost empty, we wouldn’t get water/wine when we were running out of it. You had to ask repeatedly. FOOD Personally, I thought the food was disappointing. There’s only 2 a-la-carte restaurant and you have to book the day of. Sometimes, they would tell us it was full and we couldn’t reserve. We would then walk in front of the restaurant at night and there would be 3-4 tables only that were taken… During our stay, one of the restaurant was closed twice and when it was open, they told us they closed at 8 which is pretty early. There’s not a lot of choice for the a-la-carte restaurant and it was very basic food. It would always be the same soup and deserts, not a lot of diversity. As for the buffet, breakfast was good. There were eggs, bacon, beans… However, even though it closed at 10:30 AM, I got there once at 9:45AM and there was almost nothing left to eat. Lunch and dinner was okay. I would eat pasta usually and I am not picky when it comes to food at all. Some reviews said the buffet was amazing so I was surprised. I am used to eating better on vacation and having more options. What really surprised me was the lack of fruits. It was always the same fruits, most of the time the tray would be empty. We got mangos once only, even though it literally grows on trees near the hotel. Overall, did we like our stay? Yes, it was relaxing. Would we recommend it? Probably not. There’s some things that need to be improved to make this hotel more than a 4 stars.More
Amazing Honeymoon at Decameron Cornwall Beach
Me and my wife just returned from our honeymoon week in Jamaica at Royal Decameron Cornwall Beach and we had such a good time we are ready to book for our anniversary next year. From our experience everything here was very well put together. There were daily entertainment activities every half hour or hour during the morning and early evening. And nightly they would have live shows and dancing and music. The days we spent all day at the resort were really fun, we actually wish we scheduled less excisions than we did so we had more time at the resort. We got to know Travis and Jermish from the entertainment team very well over our stay and they do an amazing job keeping it fun and exciting around the respite each day. The drinks and food were very good and there was a lot of different options. They never ran out of food during a meal while we were there like other reviews have said. The bartenders were friendly and provided fast service as well. Especially Rhomaine and Kushane. They were very nice to talk with each day and always provided us with very fast service and quality drinks. They were very professional but also fun! All of these guys and the staff are a major reason we want to continue to come back to this resort!More
This is a lovely hotel located on the beach only five minutes from the airport. Rooms are nice with comfy beds, my only complaint in our room was a very ill fitting connecting door to the next room and you could hear everything. The food is good, plenty of choice and waiting staff are amazing - Rennee looked after us well. Bar staff are amazing ”Snoop” and Ray make amazing cocktails and Kashane makes great coffee in the second floor coffee bar. Entertainment staff are great - Rushelle, Rio, Spade and Travis work hard all day and evening with the guests. Thanks everyone for a great holiday - hope to be back next year :)More
Brilliant from start to finish
The hotel has 4 special rooms with extra large balconies. Prior to our trip we emailed the hotel to request allocation of one of these rooms, and to our amazement when we checked in we were given Room 1501, on the top floor with the biggest balcony ever ! The hotel stands stands right on the beach, which is a big plus. The evening entertainment was very good, especially the shows at the sister hotel in the Amphitheatre. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. I must mention the dining room manager Kieron, a really friendly and lovely man. Also a very special mention for the customer services manager Britney who went above and beyond in her duties, was really friendly and made us feel at home. My advice to anyone thinking of going to Jamaica is to stay at this hotel, you won't be disappointed.More
I stayed at the decameron with my 5yr old. The hotel was gorgeous, the staff was very friendly. I only have a couple of minor complaints. My room was never cleaned before 2pm. I wished there was nets in the jamrock restaurant was or it was inclosed because there were flies on the food and bothering my daughter,it made meals a bit bothersome. The food was great, I enjoyed the entertainment. There are activities to do if your bored ,the staff really try to get you involved. There are tour operators on site to book your excursions. Adrien was a great,I had fun on my excursion,he was friendly and knowledgeable. Across the street is the hip strip where there is shopping. It's a beautiful hotel. I will definitely vist there again.More
