Riu Palace Jamaica
This adults-only hotel leads its debut with a prime beach position and four à la carte restaurants.
Soft white sand comes to your doorstep at this beachfront hotel. There’s a relaxed vibe to the place, though it’s just 10 minutes’ drive from Montego Bay and its line-up of shops, restaurants and nightlife.
The hotel sits between the Riu Montego Bay and Rui Reggae and, as such, you can move between the three for bars and restaurants. When it comes to the huge pool, though, you’ll probably want to stay put.

From the moment I walked onto the property you could feel the warm hospitality. The hotel was very clean and the staff was amazing especially Alice who we met at dinner and was our waitress. She was extremely accommodating and made our experience amazing. The entertainment was impeccable as there were different activities and shows every night. I would absolutely come back to this hotel and I would recommend it to everyone. More
Me and my partner visited the Riu Palace at the end of June and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything was perfect and all of the staff could not do enough for you! The rooms are spacious and modern and are kept very clean daily by the maids. We had a courtyard / sea view which was kindly upgraded by the Palace as it was our anniversary. The room had a mini bar which was kept fully stocked throughout our stay. The palace has three pools, so there is plenty of choice, if you prefer it quieter or if you want to be more involved with the entertainment. There are plenty of sunbeds, both on the beach and around all of the pools. I would say that in quieter times, some sunbeds on the beach should be put aside as there did seem to be rows of empty beds and it would have looked a little nicer. The food at the palace was outstanding. There was so much choice in the buffet, hot and cold food was fresh. There was a small selection of Jamaican food to offer which was delicious, although I would like to have seen a little more but that’s just my preference! I would say the food was slightly better at lunch time but I was always happy with the selection on offer regardless. We visited the steak, Italian and the Krystal restaurants. We were completely blown away by the Italian and Krystal and would 100% recommend them during a stay at the Palace. The steak restaurant was good but the wedges and vegetables were not to my taste. A short walk over to the Reggae at lunch time for the Jerk chicken on the beach is a MUST, and seemed to be popular with palace and reggae guests. Despite having access to all three hotels we much preferred the Palace. We did use the reggae, watching some of the entertainment and we attended the beach party on the Sunday which was a lot of fun. But the vibe and service at the palace just seemed a lot better. One of the most memorable parts of our stay has to be the staff. Each and every single staff member from the maids, gardeners, reception, waiters and entertainment team work tirelessly to make a stay at the palace special. Every staff member is always smiling and happy to help and it makes such a difference and made our holiday even more amazing. The staff make the effort to get to know you and remember your name (and drink) from the first time they meet you. I would like to say a special shout out to all of the entertainment team. These guys work so hard from morning until night. They bring so much energy and fun to the palace and try their best to get people involved but are never pushy in doing so. It’s definitely worth getting involved but also equally as fun to watch other people joining in the games and other activities. Extra praise to Lady T who for me stood out, she had a lot of time for us and was always stopping to speak with us and just made our stay that extra bit better. My partner and Dr Fun Fun hit it off and would also like to praise him for his time and effort. We stayed at the palace for 10 nights and went on three trips / excursions. We went on a catamaran which included snorkelling and to Margaritaville. I would recommend booking this through the water sports centre at the Reggae as we found it to be $30pp cheaper than booking through TUI. We also went to Dunn’s River and Nine Mile ($126pp) and bamboo rafting ($79pp) so a little pricey, most trips were well over $100. But we thoroughly enjoyed them nonetheless. Overall, our stay at the place was absolutely amazing and I could not recommend it enough. I would struggle to find any real fault with the place. This was a holiday of a lifetime and our stay at the palace was incredible. If anything’s we’ve shot our selves in the foot as we don’t really know what could top it!More
2nd time visit
We returned to this hotel after staying there in June 2018. Our stay was second to none. On entering our room we were surprised to see 2 Welcome Home banners on the walls and a bottle of champagne. The room was of the same type as we stayed in the previous year on the 3rd or top floor. This year 3066 with a view of the ocean and quiet pool. Last year the room was on the opposite side with a view of the sister hotel Rui Montego Bay. All the staff were still the same and Dr Fun Fun and jojo heading up the entertainment staff. The staff in all the restaurants are so friendly and helpful. Staff that stood out were Shava who work everywhere and she made our last night very memorable in the Kyrstal restaurant by laying out our table with flowers and safe flight home on it. Service second to none in all restaurants and bars. Reylando in the Aqua bar was also very friendly, polite and attentive to us. He was our beach waiter last year. The Host manager Isabel Lemas was very helpful and would assist you in all matters within her capabilities. My granddaughter who we took there for the first time really enjoyed it with the night club etc. Entertainment at night was excellent with a fabulous steel band, karaoke, Jamaica night etc. You have no problem getting sun loungers at any time of day around the pool or beach. You will feel safe with security guards as well as no one from the sister hotels are allowed on our beach or hotel but we can go to theirs. Food is excellent in buffet restaurant and speciality restaurants but you need long trousers and polo shirts etc which I think is good. We have booked to return again at the same time next yearMore

My husband & I stayed at this hotel from the 17th June for 14 nights . thee whole experience was great . Overall the food in the buffet was superb but we found it a little repetitive towards the end of our stay so opted to go to the steakhouse instead , The room was cleaned daily to a high standard , Desrick & Federico in the lobby bar were really good and remembered our favourite drinks and how we liked them served . I don't know where some people who write these reviews stay when they say the hotel looks tired and the drinks are ere watered down because we never experienced this . the staff at this hotel are outstanding especially Dudley and Oral in the buffet restaurant . Audley knew exactly what drinks we had with Breakfast ( Mimosa) and lunch time . It was lovely to stay in an Adults only hotel because most of the time the property is respected by the people who stay there . The entertainment staff were great and really tried to involve you with what was going on but if you didn't want to do it you could just watch & listen . The evening entertainment was the only thing we felt let the hotel down , the music in the Aqua bar was mainly for the younger customers so we mainly went to the lobby bar but found sometimes that although there was music that it was so loud you could not hold a conversation . There were planes flying overhead but they seemed to fly out in batches so the noise was not continuous We did 1 organised tour with Tui to Port antonio and were quite disappointed with it for the high price that we paid . we left the hotel at 6.30 in the morning and did not get back until 8.30 that night . On the way back my husband was quite concerned because the driver was rubbing his eyes as if he was tired and eventually he stopped to get a coffee which he drank while he was driving . We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and were sad to come home .More
Amazing adults only resort
RIU Palace was our first experience in an adults only resort. Palace is very quiet and private. The RIU resort has 3 different hotels within walking distance of one another. RIU allows its guests to enjoy the amenities of all three hotels. The staff are very friendly and eager to please. The resort is extremely clean. The rooms are modern and up to date. There are several restaurants and bars in each hotel. RIU Palace adults only resort was a magnificent experience. We would highly recommend it. Pros: impeccably clean, 24hr security/safe, life guards, friendly staff, 3 hotels within walking distance, short walk to shopping center, private and quiet, beautiful landscaping, updated rooms, guests welcomed with champagne, no extra charge for the use of canoes, paddle boats, & sail boats, clean beach/pool, pool activities/contests, messages on the beach, smoke free resort, and 10 minutes from the airport. Cons: food was average, short beach walk (beach is private and about 0.5 mile long), Wi-Fi does not work across all 3 hotels, and planes fly right over the resort. More
