If you’re looking to distance yourself from the crowds and see the real Jamaica, holidays to Lucea are just the ticket. No wonder this unspoilt Caribbean hideaway attracts a roll call of A-list visitors.
If a Caribbean paradise is your ideal Cruise & Stay holiday destination, look no further than Lucea at the northwest tip of Jamaica. It's a picture perfect island paradise that's just right for relaxation.
Big screen beauty
Not only has Lucea, pronounced ‘Lucy’, become an increasingly popular getaway destination for the rich and famous, it has also appeared in many a famous film including Cool Runnings. Thanks to Lucea’s stunning landscape and coastline, sitting alongside the well-preserved traditional Caribbean town, the resort has drawn steadily more holidaymakers over recent years and it’s a great choice destination to spend some time before or after a cruise.
Rich local history
Once a bustling port, Lucea has managed to retain many of its original structures. As a result, you'll find numerous historic sites open for exploration. You may want to visit Fort Charlotte, the iconic clock tower on the Old Court House. Or you can try the Hanover Museum, which is housed in an 18th-century police barracks and jail. The stunning views across the natural horseshoe-shaped harbour, on which the town was built, add to the area’s charm.
Lucea is situated in Hanover, Jamaica’s third smallest parish, sitting around halfway between the tourist hotspots of Negril and Montego Bay. The parish boasts several stunning coves, white-sand beaches, three waterfalls and a series of large caves. The town itself is fairly small, meaning the majority of attractions are within easy walking distance. Lucea may be small enough to explore on foot, but it is still intriguing enough to lure visitors back time and time again.
