Standout views. Three stylish restaurants. And a glamorous pool scene. It’s no wonder so many guests return to the Hotel Bristol year after year.
Perched on a cliff above Marina Grande, this family-run hotel is in a prime position for some of Sorrento’s best views. What’s more, it’s just a 10-minute downhill walk into the heart of town.
Bedrooms here are elegantly styled. Big beds take centre stage, while painted floor tiles and brightly coloured soft furnishings add a chic but homely feel.

A DREAM COME TRUE – LITERALLY in more ways than one
While it is absolutely true, this header actually needs an explanation, but first the hotel review: My experience as a guest at the Bristol hotel began more than 20 years ago, and my most recent visit was at the end of October 2019. So many things have changed in the world during these last two decades, fortunately the quality; the service and the enchanting ambience of the Bristol in Sorrento are still in a class by itself: THE VERY BEST! I’m a discerning traveller, having stayed at some of the finest hotels around the world, and the unique asset, that sets the Bristol apart from other high quality hotels, is something rare: THE GENUINE FEELING OF BEING PAMPERED WITHOUT HIGHFALUTIN FUSS. Guests are treated with kindness and respect and yet there’s warmth and a twinkle in the eye. The hotel has been meticulously maintained over the years; the guest rooms and suites have been regularly updated, refurnished and upgraded with all modern amenities for the demanding traveller, yet the hotel is deeply rooted in respect for tradition in the best Italian sense – personal attention to detail and guest needs, excellent service throughout the hotel, exquisite cuisine with focus on local food products presented with (well deserved) pride by professional waiters, who have been serving guests at the Bristol for at least the two decades that I have been frequenting the hotel. It’s a great experience to be recognized by the same waiters who served you 20 years ago! And it is truly unique to be greeted by a top notch management team, headed by the owner himself, all top-professional hoteliers. The personal touch is important, but so is the location. There may be other spectacular views in the world, but probably none greater than the view from the terraces, balconies or restaurants at the Bristol, where you have totally unobstructed views over picturesque Sorrento, the entire Bay of Naples and Vesuvius as a dramatic backdrop that’ll make your jaw drop. This time we were there to celebrate a 10 year personal anniversary, and here is the story that relates to the header: 10 years ago, I was staying at the hotel as a single guest and thanks to the owner, who acted as my advisor and intermediary; I managed to meet Irina (my then - hopefully - future love and life partner) for the first time at the Bristol. We spent an unforgettable week there and have been together ever since. Truly, I have never been happier in my life – so, dreams do come true … literally. I had written to the hotel in advance, explaining about our special anniversary, requesting a celebratory event in the restaurant for just Irina and I. The management was very accommodating and on October 30, 2019 we were greeted and escorted to the restaurant on the 9th floor where we were seated at table with a stunning view over the Bay of Naples. The food was in a class by itself – we were in the mood for traditional regional Italian fare, because you can NEVER go wrong with that which the chef takes pride in preparing. The Caprese salad with genuine Campania buffalo mozzarella, heavenly Sorrento tomatoes and fragrant basil – if you’ve ever tasted Caprese here, you will never find it better anywhere – I have tried and been disappointed. Over the years, I have learned that the pasta dishes at the Bristol are not only the pride of the chef, they are the pride of Sorrento – authentic and scrumptious. Add ultra freshly baked variations of focaccia, never exceeded elsewhere, well … you get the gist. We could have opted for ‘secundi’ but had already decided to re-savour the local cheesecake – once again our tastebuds were rewarded. We caught a glimpse of the chef and had a brief opportunity to thank him for an unforgettable celebration. We could have opted for the classic combo – antipasto, primo, secundi, contorno, insalata, formaggi e frutta or dolce – but sometimes it’s just as rewarding to just order your basic favourites. Anyway, at the Bristol there’s an opportunity every night for the complete 6-course Italian dinner. In 2020, we have a so-called round-number birthday to celebrate and if we are lucky to secure a room, maybe we should then go for the full Italian dinner – and take the next day off. My positive views of the Bristol are reflected in its high occupancy rate – they’re almost always sold out. So if you want to experience a heavenly Italian holiday, be sure to book well in advance. Just for the record: I’m not sure, the owner acts as an 'intermediary' anymore, but I, for one, owe him my gratitude, well, my life as I now know it.More

Wow we loved this place. The location is amazing overlooking the bay and town and you can see Vesuvius in the distance. The pool was lovely but really cold ! And you only get the sun in the morning. It is on a main road but don’t bother us at all. You could walk into town in 5/10 mins. Sorrento is an amazing place with lots of little side street and small shops. We got the train to Pompeii,an experience in itself ! Fantastic place to visit. We did Capri too but wasn’t too impressed. Should have gone to Amalphi! The only let down for us as the hotel food. It wasn’t great though the service was pretty good.More
