Grand Hotel President
With spectacular views over the Bay of Naples, the Grand Hotel President was an obvious choice for the Platinum collection.
The Grand Hotel President offers up some of the best views in Italy. The property is set on a hilltop and looks out over the Mediterranean Sea, Mount Vesuvius and the inlets of the Sorrento Coast.
The hotel is a great example of Italian good looks. The bedrooms are traditional, with tiled floors and plenty of inlaid wood furniture, while communal areas feature marble staircases and chandeliers. And the outdoor scene is one of landscaped gardens and manicured lawns. You'll even find a whirlpool bath out here.

Not platinum stanard
Arrived 30th of September till 7th of October. A treet for my wife after getting over pneumonia.. We were given our room number 432, having requested a high room we thought that's great, till we go in the lift with the porter and found the floors were in reverse order high was low. Taken to our room the porter opened the door and the smell of damp and mould hit you, it was ground level with a view from the balcony of a brick wall covered in undergrowth. We went straight to reception and asked for another room as it was completely unacceptable after my wife's illness and for that matter any body else. They gave us the only room available !!! on level one which we accepted but not the standard we would expect for a TUI platinum graded hotel. You had to climb 12 stairs to get to the bedroom with very little room between the bed and the wall, the TVs was also up there and could only be watched from sitting or lying in bed. The terrace had two chairs a small table and two sun loungers which were broken. I'm afraid it doesn't get better. The restraunt was waiter service and can't knock that as they work very hard. It was the food that was a let down when it came to the table it was never as hot as it should have been, asked several times for the beef, lamb, and steak to be cooked well done but always had to send it back as it was still red in the end I didn't bother eating at all. A good choice at breakfast time but again food you would expected to be hot wasn't, and at no point did we see anyone checking the temperature. As we are table tennis players and the hotel had a table for use on level 5 which was in the basement we thought we would a play a few games it also had the pool table and was where the library was housed. We went down on the lift as soon as the door opened the smell of dampness was so overpowering it was not healthy, the library books were damp to touch. When the TUI rep came to visit later that day I asked if she had been down to the basement she said no. So I asked if she would go down with me to see what we had found. After looking round she said she felt there were no signs of damp but admitted she smelt it and said she would have a word with the management, who then put disinfectant down which was a complete waist of time. We have stayed in a lot of TUI Gold and Platinum hotels and use them because of the high standards, we felt it was not of the usual standard we have come to expect. We read all the reviews and that was the reason we chose it, the only platinum thing about it was the view from the restraunt and the pool areas. We found it over priced and the view was the reason.More
We booked The Grand Hotel President as we wanted somewhere special to stay for our 25th wedding anniversary and it didn’t disappoint. We payed extra to upgrade our room and the view was spectacular! I can honestly say I didn’t get bored of looking at it. All the staff were friendly especially the waiting staff. They really looked after us and the service was excellent. The food was very good as was the wine. Can especially recommend the Falerno del Massico. We loved sitting outside to eat and even had fireworks on a couple of nights. The hotel runs a shuttle bus into Sorrento and we used this on quite a few occasions. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would love to go back!More
Amazing hotel and even more amazing service
Me and my boyfriend spent a fantastic week at the grand hotel president, we stayed for one week and it was perfect from start to end. The restaurant staff went above and beyond to ensure i was safe to eat certain food with having a nut allergy, information was provided to me each meal time as to what I could and couldn’t have and provided alternatives which I was extremely impressed by. The hotel itself was impeccably clean, the pool area was just the right size with enough sun loungers and the pool bar was perfect for an afternoon snack. The evenings were made even more special by enjoying a drink on the rooftop bar enjoying the view and chatting to the fantastic bar staff who provided recommendations of where to visit. Overall, we found the staff at this hotel completed our amazing holiday to Sorrento and we will hopefully return to the hotel soon.More
View and service exceptional but some aspects not so good
First. This hotel is exceptional for its customer service and amazing views. We also had our best meal in Italy at the A la carte restaurant. Reasonably priced too. But, the bed was lousy, the hotel is old, and the walls are thin. So my overall experience is probably barely a four. Even though the staff truly are amazing. They did forget to book my private driver one morning but they fixed it pretty quickly. I also think it’s overpriced. I guess we are paying for the views, but it is far from the town and very difficult to walk and the shuttles filled up fast. That was also a downside. I have to give it a four because of the service , and views , otherwise I might give it a threeMore
Great hotel with amazing views
Just returned from a week in this wonderful hotel following a weeks cruise from Naples. The hotel has a fantastic location to see over sorrento and the bay of Naples. Obviously you get this view from your room if you invest in a sea view, otherwise you can enjoy from the pool, roof top terrace or the pool area. The quality of food was excellent as was the service from all the the staff. We will certainly look to return again in the future. My only minor issue was not with the hotel but with guests in the next room, who upon returning to their room at 2am, proceeded to switch on the tv very loud and talk loudly for another 2 hours. Ultimately I had to ring through to reception to complain and they responded in a timely way to come down and speak to these inconsiderate people and ask them to reduce the noise, which thankfully they did.More
