Art Hotel Debono
The peaceful Art Hotel Debono pairs a desirable postcode with stylish décor.

What a wonderful place, located in beautiful gardens on the outskirts of the little seaside town of Gouvia. The room we stayed in was well appointed and spacious with a lovely view of the garden from the balcony. All of the staff were friendly and very attentive at all times. Drinks and snacks were equivalent prices to the places in town. There’s a bus stop about 300m away from the hotel which goes into Corfu town for €1.70 each way, about a 20 minute trip. All in all, a great stay. Would definitely recommend. Thank you to Karmela on reception who was especially friendly and knowledgable about the area.More
Modern,clean and comfortable
Spent week here after Marella cruise. Lovely modern clean building and really nice pool area, with plenty of shade if required. Enough comfy sun beds for all. Staff friendly, efficient and helpful. Food was adequate, but over salted, particularly the potatoes, which were often inedible. The quality of cooking was a bit hit and miss - scrambled eggs one morning were somewhat burnt and the meat at evening meals was over cooked and dry. Vegetables were usually good. Drinks are expensive. Comfortable bedrooms, plenty of storage and nice bathrooms. The hotel sits on a busy noisy road, but has good double glazing, so night time sleep is not disturbed if you have a room at the front. It is a slightly hazardous walk into Gouvia with narrow roads and few paved areas, but that is normal for Greece. More
Really nice hotel
Hello Julia Firstly your staff and your hotel are excellent. We are staying at your hotel at the moment and would like to pass comments on a few things to help improve your guests experience. Firstly after arriving at your hotel after our cruise at 4, pm we checked in and proceeded to our room,we were extremely tired as we had been up since 6.00am and all we wanted was a cup of tea,we found no water in our room so I went to reception only to be asked for 2 Euro for a bottle of water!!!!!! We declined the offer. This has now been explained by the owner, seemingly hotels are not allowed by Greek law to put complimentary bottles of water in rooms?????? Not convinced. Secondly the coffee and water station in the restaurant is totally inadequate when the breakfast is being served, there are often long queues to use this facility. The hotel owner has said that he will look to change this by maybe installing a hot water boiler, hopefully!!!!! Thirdly the price's for wine and drinks are too expensive and happy hour only cover's beer and cocktails. The cocktail I bought for my wife was served in a whisky glass???To expect your guests to pay inflated wine price's of up to 30 Euro for a bottle is to say sad in the extreme. We are all wine drinkers but not at your price's.The owner said that he pays up to 80% tax and the wines served a very good and wants to offer his clients the best Greek wines???? Not convinced!!!!!! Please visit your pool area and restaurant and you will see very few guests drinking alcohol, mainly there own water or soft drinks We are in a financial position to pay your price's but have only taken them up on rare occasions, holiday makers remember bad things and your drinks prices are extremely high,6 Euro for a large beer which is not the best. We are travelling with Mr and Mrs tulip who are the same opinion, Mr tulip and myself are two retired business men who ran extremely successful businesses and would suggest that your business is missing and financial opportunity charging these HIGH prices. If these prices more realistic most of you clients would spend more. Unfortunately these comments will be expressed on TripAdvisor and your Web site. We met with the owner before we left who was very obliging and listened to our suggestions and we hope he carries out what we proposed,if he dosnt expect a bit of what we experienced. Mr and Mrs Wilson,Mr and Mrs Tulip.More
Fabulous friendly boutique hotel
On arrival at Debono it would appear that you are a tad isolated, however with closer investigation all is not as it first seemed . You are met with a wonderful welcome from one of the receptionist ( my 1st Staff Shoutout, is the receptionists, who are all very helpful and friendly . They are very knowledgeable about hotel , resort etc more so than the hotel Holiday Representative. ) The check -in process is very quick. We arrived early so our room was not quite ready so we went to pool bar for a beer. Our luggage was moved to a safe place by the owner of the hotel Julia ( I’ve traveled and worked in many hotels around the world and very rarely do you see an owner get so involved) Let’s firstly chat about the hotel . Behind reception is a very comfortable lounge with a book swop and games and a computer. The smells and the furniture are warm & inviting. The WiFi is accessible throughout the hotel . The main bar and pool bar both have happy hour . The pool area is peaceful, quiet and so very tidy and clean . My 3rd staff ‘shoutout ‘ goes to the pool man , he does a fabulous job of keeping his pool area immaculate often working a long old shift . When we arrived we got chatting to some guests who didn’t enjoy the food in restaurant,, why? I can’t understand. I’m a vegetarian and always had a delicious plateful. That leads me on to my 4th Staff Shoutout, the gorgeous young chef who walked me around the restaurant each evening telling me what was vegetarian ( on night 6 I discovered that there was plaques with the V ( vegetarian) symbol next to the food however I wasn’t prepared to stop my nightly rendezvous with said young chef !! ) Now the next thing to mention is our room ....wow wow wow . We had a junior suite, newly built with a fabulous large sunny balcony with delightful views. 5th Staff Shoutout goes to our housekeeper who was friendly and did a great job. The bed was so comfortable ( I would have taken it home had it fitted in my case!)the linen smelt lovely and the towels wow so fluffy ( I need to know their brand of soap-powder ?) there is tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge, a safe , beach towels , toiletries and an iron on request. So many plug sockets too. My 6th and final Shoutout goes to the lovely hotel guests . What a friendly lot. No pushing at dinner, no hogging the sun beds ,no coming back drunk at 4am causing mayhem! The hotel was a well deserved 4 stars. .Be aware that the hotel departure tax is €3 per night Per room . You can pay this at reception. Gouvia is a 10 minute walk . A large well stocked supermarket 5 minutes walk from Debono. Easy bus ride to Corfu Town No 7 €1.70 one way . Beach is very ( shingles) gravely in Gouvia however the setting and back drop is pretty. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday in a clean , tidy environment then look no further. Well done Julia and her team . If the bed in #325 has vanished I promise it wasn’t actually me ! More
cant speak highly enough about this place.
the staff are a credit to the hotel, all were friendly, helpful and accommodating. we stayed for 2 weeks in may 2019 and from the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel so welcome. our room 214 was looking out over the front of the hotel, towards the sea. spotlessly clean everywhere. the food is buffet for each meal, and there are tasty bits to try of things that you might never imagine that you would like. the hotel is in a very good location for getting out and about, we had a car so it was a little easier, we did use the local transport too, which is quite an experience in a funny way. loved everything about this hotel, and the bathroom towels are to die for, they are super absorbent. the pool was quite cold when we stayed it probably will warm up as the season moves on.More
