You’re veering off the beaten track with holidays to Agios Ioannis Peristeron. It’s a relaxed beauty spot that’s light on crowds, but heavy on local life.
Aghios Ioannis Peristeron
On the eastern coast of Corfu lies the village of Aghios Ioannis Peristeron. Boasting an excellent beach, and dotted with family-run tavernas and boutique hotels, this beauty spot transports you away from the hustle and bustle for an easy-going Cruise & Stay holiday.
Solitude in the sun
Corfu is full of resort towns that have lively bar scenes, tourist hot spots and shopping opportunities. That’s what makes Aghios Ioannis Peristeron so different. Even though the village lies only 20 to 25 minutes by car from the airport, it’s light on tourists and noticeably lacking in high-rises, nightclubs and malls. The main features here are the coast’s quiet stretches of beach, secluded coves and hillside olive groves, which all give Aghios Ioannis Peristeron a magical feel.
The compact village of Aghios Ioannis Peristeron is built up along one main strip. So, wherever you stop over on a Cruise & Stay holiday, you’re guaranteed to be walking distance from the sea.
Relax on the beach
The town’s Blue Flag beach is the place to be for sunbathing and socialising. A mixture of sand and pebbles, this coastal stretch is lined with walkways, sunloungers and umbrellas. Despite appearing shy and retiring in comparison to other resorts on Corfu, it’s home to its fair share of beach-side bars. Spend a day lounging in the sun and then retreat to one of the traditional tavernas for a well-earned glass of ouzo.
Take an urban daytrip
If the quiet gets too much, take a daytrip to the nearby towns of Moraitika or Mpenitses. You can reach either of these by car in under 10 minutes. Moraitika is a particularly good spot for shopping and dining, and has more of a built-up tourist scene. For the ultimate daytrip adventure, head north to Corfu Town. Here you can wander through narrow, cobbled streets, snap pictures of the town’s ancient fortresses and even hop on a boat cruise.
