Excellent, Excellent and Excellent
Well after our 14th visit to The Athena Beach hotel, we still love it. On arrival, the Reception staff and porters couldn’t be more welcoming. Our room was good even though I still think it could be updated even more. For example, I really think the shower curtain could be replaced with a glass door. I know there are a lot of rooms that needs updating. All the staff in The Zephyr are amazing, we both love Marina, she is so lovely and friendly and excellent at her job, so efficient, we’ll miss her loads. Sun beds are not a problem, we always sit on the grass area and there is always plenty of room. We are a little worried when they extend at the end of the year that it will mean less space, that would be a shame, it’s just right. I think they should concentrate on updating all the rooms and not extend (that’s just my opinion). The beach bar staff are all great too, Nana, Vangelis and everyone else too, they all do a fantastic job. Now we get on to the entertainment. Anastazio is still just amazing, I really don’t know where he gets his energy from. He sings and dances from 8.30 to 11.30 without having one break. We just love the 3 evenings when he’s on. He is such an entertainer. Polis and Dimitra are so good too, would never miss them on a Wednesday, so good. Teddy was very good too, we grew to really like her, again, a good entertainer. We did miss Matthew Edmonson though, he used to be on a Tuesday. Unfortunately wasn’t too keen on the singer who is on now which is a shame. So as you can tell, we really enjoy The Athena Beach Hotel. We have already booked for June and September next year. We meet up with 3 other couples, been doing this for a few years now. We call ourselves The Athena 8 and all had T-shirts made with ‘I am one of the Athena 8’. Unfortunately one couple had to drop out at the last minute due to illness Roll on 2020 xxxMore
Stayed here at beginning of September . Cannot fault the hotel. Rooms clean and comfortable, food varied and delicious, and staff friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble- no wonder the hotel is full of returners! The only downside is that the evening entertainment can be heard in the bedrooms quite late (and quite loud).More
This hotel is big! So if small and intimate is what you want then this is not the hotel for you. BUT even though it is big you never feel that it is. There is so much space by the pools and on the grass and beach that you never feel hemmed in. The service from the staff is exemplary and the choice of food is so varied and of excellent quality. And the whole place is spotless. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Go for the full sea view room though as the side sea views are just that!More
Just had our fourth holiday at this hotel but not sure if we would return. The rooms are in desperate need of upgrading, especially the carpets and shower curtain. Carpets in the corridor are very grubby. Reception area looking out to the ocean does have the wow factor but that's about all. The staff that we spoke to were friendly enough but we watched people creep to much around the staff thinking they might get better service. People still reserving sunbeds early in the morning, no need there are plenty around the grass areas and small beach. Main pool needs a good clean, lots of scum around the edges. Hotel is in a perfect location for the many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. More
