We really enjoyed our stay. I was a little concerned about the distance from the Old Town but the bus was so convenient and so easy. I wish we were here earlier in the season to enjoy the outdoor patios and pool. The room was a standard and a little small but it was all we needed and very clean and well kept.More
Or visit to Croatia.
We liked it :-) Uesed the swimmingpool dayly and went down to the beach several times. In evenings we went to a small town nearby for dinner. In afternons we drived taxi or bus to Dubrownik. Visited Montenegro by bus once. We like to come back.More
Wonderful stay for a business event, will definitely come back on holiday
I stayed here in October 2018 while taking part in a training course. The course organisers picked this place for us so I was a bit uneasy because I always like to look for hotels myself. I was very pleasently surprised by everything about this hotel. The location, the food, the staff, the rooms and the ambience are absolutely stellar. I am definitely going back. I would like to make a special mention of one of the staff members, Anja Paić Čolaković. She was forthcoming and helpful and made the stay very pleasant. Thank you for your hospitality!More
End of Season
Very clean hotel in a great location - however, the restaurant was an experience....first two days were fine but after that food was just say warm and the service was deplorable. Reserved tables and unless you were there at 7pm you had to set your own table. More
Lacroma is definitely a 'commercial' hotel - clean and modern but not warm and welcoming
We were looking forward to visiting Croatia for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately just a week before we were due to travel we were notified that our original choice of hotel, the Valamar Argosy, was closing early and therefore we had been reallocated a room at the Lacroma. Since this was not the accommodation we would have chosen based on reviews and being a much larger hotel, we negotiated for a room upgrade as a goodwill gesture. Consequently, we were pleased to have a very nice junior suite, with a lounge that had a balcony with sea views (though not stunning as set quite far back from the water so other hotel buildings in front of us). Spiral staircase led to a very nice bathroom and bedroom with a large bed. All very clean and serviced everyday by hard working staff. Couldn't fault the cleanliness of the hotel throughout apart from the swimming pool/spa which was smelly and so unpleasant that we only used it once. Overall impression of the hotel was definitely a large impersonal commercial style accommodation. The reception area was austere and seating here and around the bar was the only place to have a drink and certainly was nothing like a cosy hotel lounge should be. Reminded us of an airport terminal! The rooms around this large amplified space must very unpleasant as the noise from so many people sitting around echoed around the walls. Our room thankfully was located far away on the 4th floor and was extremely quiet. Most evenings there was live entertainment around the bar and on one occasion a very good band with an excellent lead female singer. However, as always the problem was getting somewhere to sit as there were simply too many people for the seating areas. Probably this would be much less of an issue during the summer months when doors would be open as there was a lot of seating and tables outside. Staff on reception were surly and gave only minimal information as required. When we noticed an error on our account (overcharged 400 kuna) the day before checking out it was rectified promptly but there was no apology. Staff in the restaurant at breakfast were very busy and hardworking but mostly unfriendly. However, a few notable exceptions Boris serving eggs, Matteo serving at table and a lovely older waitress whose name I didn't get. The choice for breakfast was more than adequate although there was not such a good selection for hot items as experienced at other hotels. My husband enjoyed the omelettes. As we were on a B+B board basis we only experienced the buffet dinner once.....thankfully! It was extremely chaotic and although there seemed to be a lot of food on offer I found it difficult to find mains items that I really wanted to make up a meal. Having said that the deserts were very tempting and what I had was delicious. The noise was unbelievable and it was very much like a works canteen. Tables were slow to be cleared. Our first evening at the hotel tempted us to use the Fine Dining and although it was a very nice meal it was expensive for what we had, plus there was really no atmosphere since we were the only diners apart from two others. Probably because of the prices! The outside areas were very clean and tidy with a large pool (too cold to try in October although we did see several people using it) and gardens led down to the other Valamar hotels. Not what I would describe as pretty by any means but perhaps in summer weather the environment would feel different. However we had several days of beautiful warm sunshine and were blessed with stunning sunset views so I think we got a fair idea of the location. Very well located for the bus into Dubrovnik which we boarded at the first stop by The President to be sure of a seat. Tickets were available for purchase from the hotel general shop 12 kuna per person each way. Two upmarket gift shops with lovely products such as handbags, purses, ties, jewellery and pictures were also located in hotel foyer. To summarise, this hotel is efficient in terms of business clientele many of whom were observed sitting at the bar whilst working on laptops and having what appeared to be Skype calls. Clean and modern but definitely not warm and welcoming. Argosy may have been more to our taste but we will never know. Loved Dubronick but wouldn't recommend the Lacroma.More
