V nice, friendly staff. Lovely hotel
It's a very clean, very pleasant hotel to stay in and very convenient for visiting the old town (bus leaves every 15 mins from outside the hotel). Nice pools, the indoor one (heated) is a real bonus. Good buffet restaurant too, excellent variety and well prepared food. Such lovely staff throughout the hotel - very friendly and helpful. A couple of suggestions though. Firstly - in the name of all that is holy - throw the toaster away and get a new one. It doesn't work (toasts one side only and doesn't do that very well so that it comes out semi raw, or burned if you put it through twice). And maybe buy two, given the demand! Secondly, it would be good to label the vegetarian food more clearly, and maybe a little more description of each dish. Oh and also throw away all the salt cellars (they don't actually give up any salt) and get new ones. I'm being picky now - it's a nice place to stay, just a few tweaks would make it better!More
Very nice hotel away from the bustle of the old town and with great sea views
The Valamar President is a very good hotel and a lovely place to spend a few nights in Dubrovnik away from the hustle and bustle of the old town (which can get very busy), but near enough that you're only ever a 15 min drive away. The views upon entering the hotel are quite something and give an air of luxury about the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and clean, and the sun beds on the balcony are a nice touch if you don't fancy walking down to the beach or pool to catch a few rays. The buffet breakfast was a particular highlight with plenty of tasty options to cater for everyone and I'm quite confident in saying you won't leave hungry. We also tried the lunch menu and found the options to be quite satisfactory (although maybe not as good as breakfast). Last but not least, the staff were always very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. We regularly leaned upon the concierge to help us make dinner reservations and book taxis, etc., and we were always met with a smile. We really enjoyed our time at the President and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Dubrovnik in the near future.More
We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Having heard a lot about beauty of Croatia and Dubrovnik in particular I booked Superior Room with balcony and seaview. The "seaview" was a major disappointment. Yes, there was a balcony but because in front of the balcony was a lawn about 25-30 m deep only a small sliver of the seaview was visible. And that was, allegedly, superior room. Considering the fact that ALL rooms in this hotel facing the sea what made this room "superior"? I feel cheated and when I asked for an explanation I was told that this room was indeed "superior". Hard to believe. Otherwise the room itself was nice, clean and serviced daily. Bed was comfortable and sleep was undisturbed. Very good breakfast with plenty of options. Restaurant is VERY expensive. Just by walking 5-10 min away there are 3 or 4 other restaurants where you can get a dinner for a half or even less what you'd pay in the hotel. The other detail worth mentioning is that this hotel is quite a distance from all the attractions like Old Town. Uber can get you there and back for about $15-20 and at a busy time it may take up to 30 min. Despite that distance from the tourist attractions hotel does not miss the opportunity to charge EU10 for parking. Having plenty of space for free parking this is just greed.More
Valamar Collection President Hotel
While facility may be at par with hotel classification as 5*, the staff service is somehow below a 3* hotel. Waitress@ has no fainted idea about what kind of drink is available, or served to the patron. The maitre d’ seems lacking of capacity of planning, a group of 15 guests had to wait at the door while he is deciding where to seat at his dining room. The staff seem considered their manager/general ma manager as gods should not be disturbed when they have problem while serving tha patrons. They should be remind that “Guets always correct” otherwise their existance woul never be existed. The room is well clean and well served.More
This hotel is very well appointed the layout is perfect and the views sensational as are the sunsets. The rooms are very spacious and have everything you would expect from a five star hotel. Some of the surfaces could do with some polish and maintenance but this is probably done out of season. The beach service is brilliant and the two pools indoor and outdoor also the sense of pride from the staff is unquestionable they are always smiling and engaging when the opportunity arises. Breakfast is excellent and something well worth having daily. I loved the fresh honeycomb touch particularly. Our only disappointment of the whole stay was the restaurant and its menu that lacked clear explanations of the cooking method and content. Also lacks accuracy in execution and Interpretation of some of its dishes. For instance Tournedos Rossini Should be served on a crouton with goose liver pate and a rich Madeira truffle sauce. I have posted a picture of an example, but the dish I received resembled nothing of the kind. Please If you are to use french classical dishes you must interpret them correctly and I speak as a french classically trained Chef and Saucier and 30 year high end restauranteur experience. The service was attentive but lacked expertises and training in many respects. Would we recommend this destination Yes but research local restaurants a very modest Uber ride away. More
