Good view of the sea
We stayed for a night in this hotel. The room is not very big but there is a balcony with a view of the sea. There is wifi but no kettle or coffee and tea as in most of the hotels we have stayed in. We had buffet dinner and buffet breakfast as part of our package. The food is not bad. There is pasta and roast pork for dinner, and breakfast is quite a good spread with bacon, sausages and scrambled eggs. As we were part of a tour group, we had to check out early for our tour, and therefore we did not have the chance to see the swimming pool or go to the beach. We would love to return and stay longer to enjoy the facilities of this hotel.More
Although the hotel was very good, the room wasn't really 5 star. The facilities were great and we enjoyed our stay very much though. Being high up, the views were wonderful and the sunset was fantastic.More
This hotel has an official 5 star rating - it is definitely not five star however. Don't get me wrong we had a fab holiday but there were so many little things that stopped it from being five star. The good things - the room was very spacious as was the reception. It was situated five minutes away from Cavtat which is a lovely harbour town with enough bars and restaurants to keep us occupied. The hotel offered a buggy service to transport you and down the hill. The hotel clings to the side of a cliff. The minuses - firstly the food, We were half board - the breakfast was ok but the standard of the evening meal was pretty poor, the quality and choice left a lot to be desired, We ended up eating out probably about 9 out of our 14 nights. We paid extra for one of their speciality nights expecting a menu and table service but no it was the same buffet food as in the main restaurant and self service - a bit of a rip off really. The pool area was quite small for the size of the hotel but had not problems getting a bed. The real negative was the pool area was never cleaned. The pine needles were never swept up in the whole time we were there and any spillages were not hosed away - so there were sticky patches and stains all around the pool. The other thing was the rice of the drinks in the bar - they were really expensive so it was down to Cavtat for us. Like I say we had a great holiday - Croatia is gorgeous, Cavtat is a lovely harbour town and we had some good trips out and went to Dubrovnik and Mostar - both worth a look. The hotel was disappointing but did not let it spoil our time in this lovely resort.More
Really good hotel in a great location
Ok, I don't usually write hotel reviews (I'm a restaurant guy), but I wanted to go out of my way to write one for this to counterbalance some of the negative reviews here. Stayed in this hotel during the summer on a family vacation, on a half board (breakfast and dinner) basis. Overall had a great time, really, really enjoyed it. The hotel has a lot going for it, big spacious and very nice rooms (we had a sea view). All hotels have room for improvement, and this place is no exception, but overall it is a fine place to stay. Yes, I have stayed in more modern newer hotels, but the beauty of its natural surroundings more than makes up for this...nestled in a corner of Cavtat harbour with a pine forest with nature trail and beautiful seas, brimming with sea life - bright orange star fish, a wide variety of fish and yes we even saw dolphins (they are elusive) on one day! Ok, let's talk about the food, as for the people who said it was a bit bland or not very good, I'd ignore them. The breakfast buffet was full service, so all the usual stuff, breads, pastries, fruit, cheese, juices, hot items, cold cuts - and food cooked to order - all fine. I ate here for 2 weeks and did not get bored of their breakfasts, now that's saying something. The dinner buffets were also very good, rotating menus daily and plenty to suit everyone, including fish lovers, meat and vegi folks. Did I mention the truffle cheese on a varied cheese section? How about the squid ink risotto? Desserts galore, including their local version of a baklava. Veal steaks, grilled squid, sea bass. The hotel also has several other restaurants, but going by the buffet alone, you will not be disappointed. Do go at the right times and you will avoid the queues, this is just common sense. Service was good, many young staff here and they are happy to serve. If you are a big coffee drinker (good coffee btw) just ask them to leave a whole pot at breakfast. Facilities, really nice pools, both outdoors and indoor and of course you have a choice of sea locations to swim in. Yes, there is no sandy beach, but got over that, put on your diving mask and explore the crystal clear waters. I do recommend you bring some gum sea shoes, as there are urchins and you really don't want to step on one! Or go kayaking, nice. There is a gym, which is fine, but seriously go outside. Oh by the way, there is a spa part which not many people knew about, an oasis of calm. Ever sat in a sauna staring out to calm blue waters? Well you can do that here. Rooms are very nice and clean, no complaints. Wifi connection was good. I could write more, but I think you get the picture. Yes, given the opportunity, I would stay in this hotel again. Overall very good indeed.More
Stayed here for a few days for a wedding in Dubrovnik. The hotel has stunning views. It is located a short walk away from the town center which has a great variety of bars and restaurants. The staff was friendly and pool/restaurant area were very nice.More
