This exclusive seafront hotel has two beaches to itself, as well as a great pool scene and plenty of chic places to eat.
Set on a rocky cliffside, the Hotel Croatia is a stylish retreat with knock-out views across the Adriatic and the old town of Cavtat. It has two pools and access to two beaches to its name, as well as an elegant spa.
The buffet restaurant serves international dishes and there’s a steakhouse, too. A poolside place specialises in light dishes and a beachside joint offers a seafood menu. And there's a piano bar as well . Cavtat is a 10-minute walk downhill.

We found the hotel Croatia very satisfactory, clean, spacious, polite and friendly staff. The views from the terraces were wonderful, as the hotel is set on a hill. For this reason we were grateful sometimes for the golf trolley service to take us up and down the hill to and from the town/More
Not a 5 star hotel
Clean and calm location with great view overlooking the sea, food not so good! We were on a half board deal for a week. I found the food both in breakfast and dinner very average. It wasn't in the standard of a 5 star hotel but maybe a 3 or a 4 star one. Not a lot of options and the meat were mostly overcooked given you the impression that they were really heated from the previous nights. And on top of that one night we had to stay in a line for about an hour to get to the main course for dinner due to the hotel being over loaded with people stayed there for a conference and other guests. Also no live entertainment for nights.More
Very relaxing place to stay
We spent a week at the Hotel Croatia in July 2018, with our two kids ^ had a lovely time. The hotel is well located for an easy walk down into Cavtat & is about 30 mins away in a car from Dubrovnik. Its obviously a seventies building but has a lot of charm because of it. Although its a large hotel it blends into the forested hillside easily & incorporates the nature into the hotel with lots of terraces & walkways. The rooms we had we on the reception level overlooking the rear of the hotel & we had a really amazing view of the rocks & sea below, really stunning. The room was a good size & well appointed with everything you need. Breakfast & evening meals were very good with a good choice of food. The option to sit outside overlooking Cavtat eating was the best as the main indoor dining room a little over lit & felt a bit canteen-like. Everything is very clean & well maintained & the staff are helpful & friendly if you need something. The pool area was very nice (although a seawater pool) with a good bar & never too busy, with a bar close by that did good food & drinks. The only really odd thing about the pool was that we had to walk through reception to get to it (strange coming back in wet swimwear carrying a lilo!), in that respect the layout hadn't really been thought out very well. There is a beach of sorts at the rear of the hotel, though be careful if you turn right its a nudist beach (my kids thought this was hilarious!) Its very rocky (Croatia doesn't have many sandy beaches at all) but swimming off the rocks here is truly amazing & really an experience not to miss. There's a ladder to help you get it as its very deep, but there is a clear area marked out with buoys for swimming in. We did use the pool, however we preferred to go down to the beach club at the bay & to swim in the crystal clear sea. There is a restaurant there which is good & lots of sunbeds. One word of warning, the hotel is not for people who struggle with stairs - its an easy walk downhill to the beach but coming back up the stairs are hard work! (the hotel will drive you down there & take you back if you request it though) Cavtat itself is very nice little town with a good choice of restaurants & bars, although not much in the way of shopping. You can get a bus to Dubrovnik but I would recommend getting a boat as its much nicer way to travel (although more expensive). We had a great week here and I would definitely go back.More
Nice hotel with stunning views
We stayed at the Hotel Croatia for two weeks in September. It is a big hotel with fabulous views of the sea and Cavtat. It is within easy walking distance of the town and if you have a problem with the 130 plus steps, the hotel has a golf buggy you can summon. If we returned we would pay the premium for a sea view room but our room was perfectly acceptable and spotlessly clean. It had a decent sized bathroom with a powerful shower but underpowered hairdryer. Towels were replaced every day as were the little tubes of shampoo, conditioner, shower gell and body lotion. Good quality bathrobes were also supplied. There were tea and coffee making facilities which is a big plus for me. I was also impressed with the bedtime chocolate, a habit I could get into. Due to the size of the hotel and it’s mix of holiday guests and conference delegates, the restaurant has a bit of a cafeteria vibe but both the food and the service was very good and there was a fantastic view from the terrace. Breakfast and dinner both offered a huge selection of both hot and cold food of a good standard. The outdoor pool was too cold for us and as it is surrounded by trees, many of the sun beds were in the shade for much of the day, but there is also a warmer indoor pool with good shower and changing facilities nearby. We spent most of our time down near the Spinnaker Bar which is part of the hotel and from which you can swim in the incredibly clear sea. This does involve going down the 130 plus steps though. You can also swim from the rocks at the rear of the hotel. We enjoyed our time at the hotel and found the staff without exception to be very friendly and helpful. More
Stayed here after a conference my husband was attending. The views of the town and ocean are stunning We had a room with balcony overlooking the Adriatic - fabulous. Rooms are medium size, well appointed, nothing special but no complaints. Breakfast buffet had a good selection but could be quite busy with lots of conference and tour groups. Didn’t take an other meals in the hotel Didn’t try the indoor and outdoor pools ( preferred to swim in the sea) but they looked fine. Not far from the harbour and all the restaurants, bars and boat trips, a short walk, but does involve 135 steps! There is a complimentary golf buggy service if you don’t fancy or can’t manage the steps. Thoroughly enjoyed our stayMore
