This exclusive seafront hotel has two beaches to itself, as well as a great pool scene and plenty of chic places to eat.
Set on a rocky cliffside, the Hotel Croatia is a stylish retreat with knock-out views across the Adriatic and the old town of Cavtat. It has two pools and access to two beaches to its name, as well as an elegant spa.
The buffet restaurant serves international dishes and there’s a steakhouse, too. A poolside place specialises in light dishes and a beachside joint offers a seafood menu. And there's a piano bar as well . Cavtat is a 10-minute walk downhill.

Perfect quality hotel for week of relaxation
We stayed from 8 - 15 April and the tourist season was just beginning. There were very few people about and that was exactly what we were looking for. It was an amazing first impression walking into the glossy marble lobby area. Good first impression. The room was a superior with sea view and everything in the room was just how it should have been. Bathroom was immaculate and a credit to the hard working housekeeping staff. They attended the room daily with fresh towels, bed making, vaccuming, and polishing. I even went back into room one day and one housekeeper was removing every last mark from the tiled floor by hand. Really clean rooms comensurate with hotel's rating and a credit to the housekeeping team. The hotel is on a cliff. Amazing views, and check out that sunset, but steps up from Cavtat can be hard, but phone the number on your room card and ask to be picked up by golf cart. Service is free and is very prompt by the concierge and it's always available to everyone. We used the spa areas for relaxing most days. The saunas overlook the Adriatic through glass sides. The indoor pool was 30 degrees so just nice. April too cold for outdoor pool. Robes and slippers are in the rooms so change there then go to the spa. Food... Such choice for breakfast including fresh cooked egg station, hot snd cold meats, salads, cereal, breads and fruit. Juices and coffee / tea. Waiting staff were very attentive. A finished plate would be away within a minute usually. Dinner - soup, starters, meat choices varied daily but always 2 or 3 choices, seafood choices, salads, pastas, Cold meats and a range of deserts it would have been rude not to try a few. Consistantly good food and service all week was appreciated, thanks go to the restsutant team. Downside, drinks are on the expensive side, about £6.50 per pint or £20 a bottle, but remember - you're in a 5 star luxury hotel, not a cafe. The grounds of the hotel were idylic. nice paths to the sea to sit and relax. Dubrovnik was a 45 min No. 10 bus (25 Kuna each way - £3) or water taxi (50 Kuna each way - £6) journey away. I could go on, but enough has been written by others. Summary - Marvelous hotel in a perfect location. Would I go back? In a heartbeat. More

A little piece of heaven
We travelled in April 2018 and this was our second visit to Hotel Croatia in Cavtat. We love it here and have decided to visit every year now as a family holiday. What makes this hotel is its staff. We’ve stayed in lots of hotels around the world and this is one of the friendliest hotels we’ve stayed at. Nothing is too much trouble. I’d especially like to give the restaurant manager Jelena a shout, she and her staff looked after us so well. Child friendly, they really like kids in Croatia and my son (6) was spoilt. Hotel pool is brilliant and well looked after. Cavtat is very quiet little village with lots of lovely coastal walks, nice restaurants and friendly locals. Dubrovnik is a half an hour boat ride away. We will definitely be back next year, so vidimo se sljedece godine Cavtat!More
Have just come back from a week stay in hotel. Hotel was lovely. Love the two pools so at least on bad day you can relax inside. Staff were friendly and helped in anyway they could. Breakfast was good lots of choice for everyone. We didn't eat dinner in hotel so won't comment on it. We had sea view room and was lovely to wake up to. Only complaint I had was two single beds pushed together with two single duvets. A king or double bed would be better. Had requested a double room. I would definitely go back. Nice relaxing hotel and town. Just be ware that you are 20km outside dubrovnik. Enjoyed stay here. Staff friendly and helpful. More
Currently in our penultimate day at Hotel Croatia. We had visited this hotel in April of last year and returned this year after an excellent experience, for a special birthday. Unfortunately the stay did not get off to a good start; having booked the hotel as part of a package deal with British Airways, we had upgraded the room to a superior sea view balcony twin room (2 beds). However Hotel Croatia seemed to have overlooked this part of our booking and placed us in a double room. When we discovered that the room was not as booked, we returned to the front desk to see if we could change the beds in the room to 2 singles / swap rooms. The response was somewhat baffling - as a paying customer our booking specification was not taken into consideration as they had a conference coming in the following day, (who had also booked two beds) and as a result they were fully booked; therefore they couldn’t change our configuration, or our room. Inferring that as a holidaymaker I should just stick with what I had been given and the business guests meant more to them, even though we would be staying at he hotel for a longer period of time!! Therefore the only solution was to have separate bedding or to sleep on the fold out bed (mother and daughter on a short break for a birthday celebration, with my mum having a leg injury meaning that sharing a - small - king bed would be very uncomfortable) but not as uncomfortable as the fold out bed!! The staff at the hotel are generally very friendly/polite. Front desk staff, I believe need a little improvement, as they are the main interaction most guests will have with the hotel, more focus on customer service than just staring at the computer screen. The air-conditioning was faulty on our first night, it had been approximately 27/28 degrees during the day and the heat in the room during the night had become uncomfortable. We had waited until a reasonable hour to approach the front desk, who’s reply once again seemed as though they couldn’t care less: “it is broken across the whole hotel, we have a conference coming in today so hopefully it will be fixed”. The breakfast and dinner buffet were disappointing, various options (but not if vegetarian/vegan, its salad and chips for you) however not great quality and as the stay went on the options seemed to diminish. At dinner the conference issue reared it’s head once again - we arrived for the buffet, to be sat in a corner on a raised platform; having completely overlooked the fact that Mum was in a supportive boot for a lower leg injury and stairs were an issue, to then have an apology from a waitress saying sorry you are up here but we have 500+ people coming in tonight (conference guests), who had not yet arrived for dinner. Where we were sat was crawling with ants, I believe there was a gap in the seal of the window as throughout the meal a steady stream of 30+ ants crawled over the side and down the tablecloth - really gets your appetite going ;). Overall the stay was okay, staff interactions were varied. The bell boys were great with the buggies up and down into town, slight snag caused once again by the conference, meaning that there were no staff available on Sunday afternoon due to them setting up the rooms, just the 1 person manning front desk, who was on the phone for the 20 minutes we had waited to speak to someone. Cavtat is beautiful and we prefer it to the constant crowds that Dubrovnik offers. As we had booked the hotel over 6 months before arriving, I understand that they may not have been able to forewarn us about the impending cloud of annoyance that the conference would cause, however on check in maybe a little more flexibility with other paying guests as opposed to worrying about the incoming conference, would have gone a long way. It seemed as though we were more of an inconvenience to the hotel for staying at the same time! Finishing on a positive note - Cavtat is beautiful and we prefer it to the constant crowds that Dubrovnik offers. Very close to the airport and the hotel does have a lot to offer. The steak restaurant is great!More
Be wary if there is any corporate/conference activity planned during stay as your stay will be compromised.
This was a return visit to this Hotel after a wonderful stay last year. Unfortunately upon arrival it became immediately clear that we were going to be severely compromised by an impending conference that was due to commence with over 500 delegates. I would have hoped to have been acknowledged as a valued guest whose contribution towards the local tourist economy was valued rather than an inconvenience! We had made special requests due to a disability that sadly were not acknowledged and no satisfactory compromise could be reached as it was made abundantly clear that the needs of the arriving delegates were more important and their needs came first. The staff offered an additional fold down bed which when set up obstructed the pathway to the balcony, we had to rearrange the room to make it safe as there was no thought process applied. We had booked a superior sea view balcony room as my lack of mobility caused restrictions but wished to have a sea view and therefore use the balcony if unable to move around well. The reception staff were unwelcoming and generally unhelpful, when making an enquiry. Unfortunately the air conditioning did not function the first night which was exceptionally warm and rather than offer a solution or estimate we were advised that the issue was affecting the whole hotel. The member of staff then walked off, I remained at the desk and awaited someone else as the response did not enlighten me whether this could/would be fixed, but lo and behold when I did get an answer they proudly stated it should be fixed for the conference!! The majority of the waiting staff, were very friendly and attentive and did apologise for delays and problems getting tables at the breakfast and evening buffet. Unfortunately the food and variety was affected by the large number of people, and often trays were empty. The bellboys were fantastic, and the buggy service to and from the hotel was efficient and reliable and very friendly. We had a tray, with a complimentary cake delivered to our room on the first day, three days later the tray and cups used were still sitting in the room awaiting collection. This hotel really needs to apply an even and fair level of customer service to all its guests regardless of purpose of stay and not discriminate against guests that have come here to enjoy all the hotels facilities and the beautiful town of Cavtat.
