The Southern Palms is a pink-painted retreat on a beautiful white-sand beach. You’ve got easy access to St Lawrence’s best bits, too.
The Southern Palms is a candy-pink, colonial-style hotel. It’s tucked among palms and lawns on the outskirts of St Lawrence Gap, just a few minutes’ walk from the nearest wine bars and restaurants.
The hotel is fronted by a belt of powdery white sand, and looks out over the Caribbean Sea.

Worst Hotel Ever
Very disgusted with this hotel, It ruined our holiday. 2 Weeks In August for crop over. We had no internet most of the time we were there. We complained to the staff at the hotel but no one interested. The frustrating thing was no body knew when it was going to be fixed. It forced us to have to keep leaving the hotel. The rooms are horrible. We booked a double room with twin beds. The rooms are dirty and not cleaned properly. The only good thing about this hotel is location as it is close to the gap. Only brits seem to stay at this hotel and all their income if from group packages like Virgin Holidays. I am suspicious about any positive reviews on the site everyone there when we was there pretty much hated it. My friend who stayed there put up a not so flattering review when we came back which was uploaded and has mysteriously now disappeared. My advice is there are much better hotels on the GAP for same price! the Rostrevor is where we are now booked for August 2020 we friends staying there and it is very nice! Also Porcha on reception is the worst ever receptionist I have ever seen. Like a Robot, always miserable and never greeted people.More
Sunday Lunch Visit
Visited here for Sunday lunch to watch the steel band. We were shown to our table and we ordered drinks. Nobody came back to the table to explain the help yourself buffet or explain we could just go up. No indication as to what was on the buffet menu either. The buffet had 3 types of pie (chicken, shepherds and 1 other) veg, salad, soup, bread roll and a carvery. The carvery was a ham joint & optional gravy. Pudding offered a selection of mini tarts, cheesecake, carrot cake and fruit salad. The food was Good. No complaints over taste. Service wasn't great. Staff were available and there were a lot of them, but no explanation as to what was on offer, no mid meal courtesy check and removing my dinner plate whilst I was still eating my bread roll (despite it being the last few mouthfuls) are things which werent great. Lunch is $80 Bajan. Per person. No drink is included Our bill came to $176 Bajan ($87US approx) inclusive of a mandatory service charge & taxes. An expensive lunch we felt for two plates of pie and veg, 2 puddings, 1 coke and a rum punch. The steel band were very good, but we just couldn't justify a 2nd visit at a lunch time. It's a shame as the reviews are great for the hotel (in general) and I am sure as a hotel guest this restaurant offers great value for money. More
Lovely hotel, staff most of them very friendly a few miserable ones in bar area, Beach is beautiful ☀️😎 especially in the evening if your lucky enough to see the turtles being hatched on the beach 👍 amazing experience. Hotel gave us the room for extra 2hours complimentary after being delayed which was very good. Lots of restaurants and bars outside of the hotel.More
Great Place to Hear Steel Pan (Drums)
We learned of Southern Palms Hotel in Christ Church for hearing Steel Pan players on Trip Advisor! We went two Sunday afternoons and really enjoyed the Pan Orchestra. The concert is under the pavilion/restaurant/bar beachside and is really a treat. The players are better than average and have a good repertoire to hold your interest. We had lunch at the beachside restaurant both visits with drinks and they were very good as well. The hotel also has their weekly pie buffet in another section also near the music. This was the only place we heard Steel Drums while visiting Barbados off-season, but we enjoyed it both times! Well worth the visit.More
Paradise on The Gap
My wife and I stayed at Southern Palms 25th May to 5th June and this was our first visit to the beautiful island of Barbados - we couldn't have picked a better hotel for its surroundings, its ambience, the staff and the management (big call our to Jenny ..thank you so much !). Its location is superb, right on Dover Beach with fantastic views, white sands and a warm Caribbean sea to dip your toes into. We stayed in Room 319 overlooking the pool and views of the beach and sea. The room had a large balcony and fridge and kettle (take your own tea coffee and sugar as these are not supplied). The room itself had a large king size bed and great air conditioning and the bathroom was fine with a shower. It is not 5 star modern luxury but that is not what we were looking for and would certainly have spoiled the true bajan experience. We passed on breakfast and went to Happy Days or Sand Dollar cafe, but all other food (lunch and dinner) was delicious. All food is freshly prepared and very filling. My wife had the best veggie burgers she has ever had and the bajan fishcakes are to die for. We loved our holiday here and would most definitely stay here again.More
