Had a great time the 2 times I have stayed here in mid March. The location is great with plenty of restaurants to walk too as well as a fantastic beach. Most rooms have a great view and the staff are extremely friendly. The rooms are clean and well kept as well. The rooms are slightly dated however being in such a great location I did not spend much time in the room anyway.More
Very tired hotel
Just done 2 weeks here over Christmas & New Year. Last time we came here was 15 years ago also for Christmas & New Year. We have since visited this wonderful Island many times between at other hotels. The locals haven’t changed one bit still lovely obliging people serving you with a smile. With regards to this hotel it is located next to one of the best beaches in Barbados with a larger than average swimming pool for this Island. This hotel really needs closing for several months for a desperate makeover. Broken taps, shower door hinges loose, dirty worn passageway carpets & old furniture in rooms need replacing. The list can go on but enough said. Please spend some money on this place before we consider coming again!More
We stayed in this hotel as a couple in 2017, it wasn't too bad, the room was reasonable so I had no qualms returning as a family of four, for a one off christmas away from home. I chose the hotel as it wasn't as expensive as my favorite hotel, well, you get what you pay for! Upon arrival at the hotel, no real welcome, no complimentary rum/fruit punch or cool towel as last time and as other hotels do. Our room was a junior suite, unfortunately the junior suites that are advertised on the Accra website are not what Virgin class as a junior suite. Another disappointment. Two beds were queen size, so four of us were squeezed into them, until we discovered the sofa was a sofa bed. This did not look like it had been made up in a while. Single sheet on the beds, so I had to use what can only be described as hospital blankets found in the wardrobe. Yes, the fixtures and fittings in the room were tired, but they worked. There are plumbing issues however, toilet flush was awkward and if you didnt get it right it would permanantly fill. Shower pressure was an issue, but at least ours was warm. Be warned....walls are paper thin!! Thanks to our very noisy argumentative neighbours and their screaming, stomping children we had poor sleep. It then made me paranoid and I found myself tiptoeing around the room, instead of being relaxed. There are positives, believe it or not. Housekeeping keep things going, they organise themselves in the hallway every morning, and give you anything you need. They do what they can with what they are given. Be warned, the bar in the lobby plays the football matches constantly, so you end up attracting the drunk football chanting brigade, no relaxing by the pool. The pool is fab, the hotel is in a great location near to many restaurants and shops, which is why I imagine this hotel keeps going! Essentially, this hotel is ok. Its a budget hotel and it is a reasonable price. I wish however I had chosen another for a special period like christmas. There were plenty of festive meals and occasions to join in, however they charge a fortune for the pleasure. (£100 each for New Years Eve dinner). If you are happy with 3 star cheapness, do it. If not, like us, book elsewhere next time!! More
Where do I begin about our wonderful experience at Accra Beach Hotel & Spa. I’ve visited here a few times and decided it will be our perfect wedding venue. Started wedding planning in December 2018 and got married June 8th , 2019. Joann Boyce the wedding planner was fantastic. She coordinated everything with myself and husband. Our wedding was so beautiful more than we Imagined. Everything was perfect from the beach ceremony to reception and we danced the night away. Joann worked really hard for us to make the day perfect. The staff was exceptional and friendly. I would recommend them 1000 times for making our day the best day ever and treating us like royalty when we arrived and throughout the stay. We were recognized as the wedding couple. Thanks again Accra & Staff, Joann and Stanley. You guys are the best. More
From shabby to chic!
It is very difficult to write this review as our holiday started so badly but ended very well. When we arrived, we had great expectations for a 4-star hotel which is how it is advertised. Our room was shabby, rundown, various amenities in the room not working, a truly horrible room, possibly of 2-star quality, definitely not somewhere I wanted to stay. However, when we complained to our rep and to the hotel, they did move us to a suite in the newer part of the hotel where we enjoyed the rest of our stay. Our suite could not have been more different to the ghastly room we had left so our experience was a good one overall. We did get the impression that room maintenance is a very slow process. There is no doubt that the hotel overall needs a good deal of upgrading and modernising. Until that is complete, it could not be classified as anything more than a 3-star, unless your room is in the new wing. Prices here are also very high, we would have loved to use the on site spa but the prices were silly. Mention has to be made of the staff, many of whom were really helpful and friendly and then there were the others!More
