The Tui designed Halifax channel delivers dynamic graphics to each of the Halifax branches in the 'Branch of the Future' programme over a private extranet. The 'narrowcast' channels contain a scheduled mix of video adverts and features, animated customer messages and news. Their primary role is to provide a dedicated customer communications channel and they are explicitly designed to have a powerful impact and catch people's attention. As such, the Halifax channel addresses a very valuable constituency of economically active, account-holding consumers. In the future the channel will be opened up to third-party products and services.
Content for the Halifax channel and the plasma display screens is controlled centrally and administered remotely. Updating and customising the multimedia content is straightforward, quick and very flexible, which means that it can be individually tailored for each branch.
The schedule for the Halifax channel can be finely adjusted to match the daily cycle of branch activity. For instance 'queue-busting' tips and messages can be scheduled for busy lunchtimes for those branches that have a hectic counter service.
So far, customer research is showing that the plasma displays are a dramatic and effective way of contributing to sales and service levels as well as heightening the public perception of the Halifax brand.
