The National Gallery Public information display system

Tui worked with The National Gallery London and software supplier Scala BV to develop an exciting new public information display service, which was launched throughout the Gallery to coincide with the opening of the East Wing.

Delivered via large NEC plasma screens and Scala software, this innovative new service combines strong design, iconic paintings and powerful technology to provide visitors with useful information, setting a welcoming tone for their visit and introducing highlight paintings from the permanent collection.

The content had been conceived from the beginning as self-contained modules. The form of each module varies so that information changing regularly is easy to update, while information that changes less frequently uses richer media types. For example, daily event information is presented as live text that can easily be edited by Gallery staff whereas facilities promotions and sequences featuring the paintings use video.

Comprehensive templates and documentation were created by Tui to allow the Gallery staff to maintain and update the system.
